Oklahoma State UL Lafayette Predictions Spread and Odds CFB

The Oklahoma State Cowboys gallop into Cajun Field Friday night in what will mark their first road game of the season, will playing for the first time in uncharted territory hamper this offense? Cowboys QB Brandon Weeden is one of 14 players expected to make their first road start for the Cowboys (4-0) on Friday night when they face Louisiana-Lafayette (2-2), their first game since cracking the Top 25 this season. Oklahoma State started with four consecutive home games, but will now play five of its next seven games away from Boone Pickens Stadium. It will be a very intriguing plot in observing if this prolific Cowboys offense will be slowed or shut down away from the Sooner State, kickoff slated for 9 PM EST.

The Cowboys are coming off of a Thursday night, last second, field goal win over Texas A&M, a win that saw Oklahoma State trail 21-7 at halftime before they turned around the game with a 21-point third quarter. The victory marked the third time in six games Oklahoma State trailed at halftime and came back to win. Blackmon had a tying 29-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter – his 10th score of the season to tie Oklahoma’s DeMarco Murray for the most in the FBS. After a slow and dismal first half for QB Brandon Weeden he rebounded in the second half and finished with 284 yards and two touchdown passes. With Weeden at the helm, the Cowboys are averaging 534.8 yards per contest, good for 3rd in the nation and there is no reason to suspect that this engine will slow at any point. This offense will need to avenge a hostile crowd and play a strong game in order to be considered legitimate to the collegiate voting delegates.

The Ragin’ Cajuns is, for all intents and purposes, going to be playing the role as David on Friday night. The Cajuns are totally overmatched and will have to rely on home field advantage and the fact that the Cowboys are traveling for the first time this season. The Ragin’ Cajuns are coming off of a thrilling road win against North Texas, a place they hadn’t won in 5 years. Louisiana-Lafayette blocked an extra-point attempt with 31 seconds remaining to seal Saturday’s 28-27 win at North Texas. QB Chris Masson had a career day as he threw for a career-high 310 yards and two touchdowns. The Ragin’ Cajuns, after a slow start to the season, seem to be turning the corner at right about the correct time and have seem dramatic improvements in play on both sides of the ball. If Louisiana-Lafayette has any aspirations of triumphing the mighty Cowboys they will have to do so shorthanded. Running back Kevis Streeter (knee) and starting tackle Jonathan Decoster (ankle) left last week’s game with injuries in the first quarter while tight end Ladarius Green will still be out with an ankle injury. Outside of a visit by Oklahoma State in 1997, the Ragin’ Cajuns have won two of their last three home games against Big 12 foes.

Cowboys vs Ragin’ Cajuns Prediction for Betting Week 6:

Spread Prediction (TOP PLAY) – The Cowboys will be playing their first road game of the year and it will be the first away game for many of the players on this Oklahoma State squad, but I do not feel it will hamper their explosion. Oklahoma State is putting up an average of 52.3 points a game and will have several key players returning to the lineup on Friday night. The Cowboys can score with the best of them and playing an inferior squad in Louisiana-Lafayette only bolsters their chances of lighting up the scoreboard on the road. The Ragin’ Cajuns are not a particularly strong home team as they are a measly 2-4 ATS in ther last 6 games at home. Another interesting trend I want to point to is Oklahoma State is 8-1 ATS in weeks 5 through 9 over the last 3 seasons. The betting public is all over State in this one and as I usually shy away from games that the public is in love with I will go with them here. We will consider the Cowboys and the points in this affair.

Top Play Prediction = Oklahoma State -24

Game Total Prediction – These two programs boast illustrious offenses and are considered to be able to score at will. I believe Brandon Weeden for the Cowboys is a solid commodity and he is the key to Oklahoma States offense, they will be able to put up some points on Friday night. The Ragin’ Cajuns also are no stranger to wearing out a scoreboard, out of the four games they have played thus far the total has gone over on three occurrences. In fact, the total has gone OVER in 4 of Louisiana-Lafayette’s last 5 games and the total has gone OVER in 4 of Louisiana-Lafayette’s last 6 games at home. On the flip side, the total has gone OVER in 4 of Oklahoma State’s last 5 games. The Cowboys should be able to get into the high 40’s in points and the Ragin’ Cajuns will have their shots as well. One other tid bit to note, when playing on a Friday the Cowboys have reached the OVER in 5 of their last 5 appearances. Consider the OVER in this southern affair. Cheers!

Prediction = OVER 62 Total Points
