The Beldam game. It’s not newsworthy to say that Oklahoma and Oklahoma State don’t like each other but this year’s game takes on an even more special meaning…both teams are very, very good. With the game in Stillwater and the home side Cowboys playing in front of what is surely to be a rowdy home crowd, this is their big moment. For the first time in school history, a Cowboy win will send them to the Big 12 Championship. With so many years where Oklahoma State tried to play spoiler for the Sooners’ dream runs, this is their chance. A role reversal at its finest.
The Oklahoma Sooners aren’t exactly having the kind of season they have gotten used to under Bob Stoops. They have two losses. While most college football programs would die to be in such a privileged position, Sooner fans aren’t beaming with the kind of enthusiasm they may have. With a 9-2 record, Oklahoma fans still have a lot to make their season. A win over Oklahoma State to foil the Cowboy conference championship run would certainly be that kind of thing. But, it won’t be easy. The Sooners have the 4th best passing game in the country and they’ll be going up against a Cowboy pass defense that checks in at 108th nationally. Obviously, that’s the kind of thing that will give Oklahoma hordes of confidence, regardless of the venue or stakes. Should the Sooners find the kind of success in the air they expect, then it may be futile that their rush offense is 75th nationally.

It’s now or never for Oklahoma State. Usually, Oklahoma is a better team and with Texas down this year—the Longhorns are missing their first bowl game since 1997— it’s the Cowboys’ real chance to get to the Big 12 Championship and, potentially, win the conference. If it is to happen, to beat this Oklahoma team, then the offense will need to continue to keep on clicking. Consider, the Cowboys are 1st in the country in total yardage, 2nd in passing yardage and 3rd in points scored. It really is incredible. And, this year, they’ll be going against a Sooner defense that ranks in the 60’s range in passing and rushing.

Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State Prediction for Week 13:
Spread Prediction (TOP PLAY) – Landry Jones for Oklahoma is a top college quarterback. Running back Demarco Murray is one of the best in Division 1. They’ll be taking their pass offense—of which Murray is an integral part—against a Cowboy pass defense that is one of the worst in the country. Oklahoma is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 Big 12 games. And, Oklahoma drubbed the Cowboys last year to the tune of 27-0. You’ve got to like the visitors getting points.
Game Total Prediction –This game had two pretty good offenses last year. They were 27 points scored. This year, the offenses are a touch better while the defenses, especially Oklahoma’s, aren’t as good. That said, Demarco Murray is a good enough playmaker to keep the chains and clock moving and we’ll bet the defenses, with the kind of emotion that goes into this game, will show up in parts. The Under is 17-8 in Oklahoma’s last 25 games.
