Oregon traveling to Los Angeles to take on the USC Trojans. Does it get any better than this? The race for the Pac 10 could be well come to its end point should the Ducks pull off the road victory against Lane Kiffin’s USC Trojans. Oregon features the #1 offense in the country while the home side Trojans lag just behind at 7th nationally—still a great, great place to be. There is going to be some point scored in this game. Surprisingly, the Under has been the winning wager in 7 of the last 10 meeting between these two teams—mainly a case of bettors thinking they’ll be more points than there was, even with high, high lines. Regardless, the game—which will air on ABC for a primetime kickoff— should provide the platform for a terrific, terrific battle.

The Oregon Ducks offense has been unstoppable. There is really no other way to put it. From their opening day 72-0 win over New Mexico to their 69-0 win over Portland State or their 60-13 win last week versus UCLA the Ducks have been an absolute steamroller. And not a lot will change this week as they go against the 87th-ranked defense in the country. Hard to believe that is right for a USC team. But, it is. The Ducks and quarterback Darron Thomas have been moving the ball through the air (33rd nationally in pass offense) and the ground (best in the country). There is little reason to think USC will completely slow them down, even on their best day.
The Trojans may have some defensive trouble to worry about but their offense is clicking just fine. They have good balance when in possession as they rank 22nd in pass offense and 18th in rush offense. Their total yardage average of 494 yards per game puts them just outside of the top 5 in the country. One thing we know is certain is that the Trojan offense will need to keep up with the Oregon offense as there is nothing to suggest that the Trojan defense will be doing them any favors.

Oregon vs. USC Predictions for Week 9:
Spread Prediction (Top Play) –It’s so difficult to go against Oregon in this play. They have so much going for them in terms of their offense vs. USC’s defense that it’s just hard to see anyway around it. But, should the Ducks pass defense (51st nationally) being to crack terribly against USC we could be in for a real barn-burning shootout. Either way, Oregon has too much skill and better coaching. We’ll take the Ducks.
Game Total Prediction – It isn’t everyday you see football games with an over of 71. Then again, it’s not everyday you see a pair of top-7 offenses get together. While Oregon hasn’t had an offense as good as this maybe ever, the Trojans have been steady the past few years with their offensive approach. Only once in the past 10 meetings has this over/under been higher than 71 points. It came when USC won 44-33 in 2002. We don’t expect USC to win but we do expect Oregon to make a few more tackles. 71 is a touch too high.
