Week four of the preseason usually sees the starters play a series or two, and then the position battles get underway for the final time. This is the last chance for those players that are on the cusp to make an impact. This weeks Packers/Chiefs match-up gets underway at 8 p.m. EST from Arrowhead Stadium, and it sees one of the best preseason teams versus one of the worst.
Packers QB Aaron Rodgers has picked up exactly where he left off last year, going 41-53 for 470 yards and 6 TD’s in three exhibition games. GB have averaged over 28 ppg in the preseason, capped off by a 59 point output against the Colts last Thursday. Granted, Rodgers and the first unit probably won’t play more than a few series, but their backups have made plenty of contributions. Backup QB Matt Flynn went 8/13 for 80 yards and 2 TD’s last week in relief for Rodgers, while the second and third units have filled in quite nicely. The ground game hasn’t had to be that great, but backup RB Brandon Jackson has excellent receiving skills and will contribute nicely.
The Chiefs have had a tough time getting wins this preseason (0-3). They haven’t been able to stop teams (allowing 388.2 ypg) and they haven’t been able to generate much of a passing game (182.6 ypg). RB Jamaal Charles will see very little action as he suffered a minor arm injury last week versus the Eagles, and veteran Thomas Jones won’t be used much here. Backup QB Tyler ‘don’t call me Joe Falco’ Palko, hasn’t done much to impress.

Packers @ Chiefs Prediction for NFL Week 4 Preseason Game:
Spread Prediction (Top Play) – I like the Packers to cover here. The battle between WR’s James Jones and Jordy Nelson is still pretty close, and this game could push one of them over the edge. Also, the Pack placed CB Al Harris on the PUP list to start the year. He won’t be available until week 7 at the earliest, which opens the door for someone to step up and push newly appointed starter Tramon Williams for the starting job. The better team is getting the points here. Oh and I should also mention that KC Head Coach Todd Hailey is 0-7 in the preseason, interpret this as you wish. Prediction (Top Play)- Packers +5.5
Game Total Prediction – I find it hard to see this game staying under the total. The Packers are scoring at will, and the Chiefs always play hard at home, regardless of their opponent. The Chiefs will score, but the Packers will score more. If you want to bet the game total in this game I would lean towards the Over.
