The controversy surrounding quarterback Ben Roethlisberger would be too much for most teams to handle, but head coach Mike Tomlin is determined to make that an issue with his 2010 – 2011 Steelers. Roethlisberger will miss the first six games of the season, with a possibility of just four. Also missing from the team will be quality receiver Santonio Holmes. Holmes has moved on to New York, to play with the Jets. Roethlisberger, a super bowl winning quarterback threw for over 4300 yards last season, with 26 touchdown passes. Holmes caught five of those touchdowns, while Hines Ward caught six more.
Running back Rashard Mendenhall looks to get the workload in the backfield, as Willie Parker has moved on. Mendenhall finished last season with 1108 yards and 7 touchdowns.
The Steelers play in the AFC North, which is one of the toughest divisions in football. The Ravens always have an exceptional defense, but John Harbaugh’s team looks to also have an improved offense this season. The Bengals, with the addition of Terrell Owens will be a tough team to slow down. Those two teams, along with the Cleveland Browns will be played home and away by Pittsburgh. The rest of the Steelers schedule includes:
w/ Atlanta, @ Tennessee, @ Tampa Bay, @ Miami, @ New Orleans, w/ New England, w/ Oakland, @ Buffalo, w/ New York Jets and w/ Carolina.

Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl Betting Odds
The odds makers have been awfully kind to the Pittsburgh Steelers. A team that did not make the postseason last year, and is counted on heavily to have their stud quarterback come back for a strong final ten games. Sportsbook.com has listed the Pittsburgh Steelers at +700 to win the AFC, which comes behind the Colts, Jets, Chargers, Ravens and Patriots.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been listed at +1500 odds to win the Super Bowl this season according to Sportsbook.com. This puts this Steelers in the top ten teams in the NFL, just slightly behind division rival Ravens who are listed at +1200.
Pittsburgh Steelers 2010/2011 Predictions
The Pittsburgh Steelers come in with way too many question marks for this season. The one positive the Steelers have going for them is their head coach Mike Tomlin, who has proven to know how to win games. Tomlin will have an answer for missing Roethlisberger, but their talent may not be enough.
Running Back Rashard Mendenhall will have a solid season, and possibly play in the Pro Bowl, but we do not expect that to be enough.
Although the Steelers should be a tough team to face in the AFC, and possibly a playoff team, I don’t like the value at +1500 to bet them to win the Super Bowl in 2010/2011. But if you think the Steelers are going to win it all this year bet on it at Sportsbook.com and you will receive up to $250 in Free Bets!
