Donovan McNabb returns to Philadelphia where he starred at quarterback for many years and led the Eagles to an NFC Championship. This time he will be wearing a Washington Redskins uniform when he comes out of the tunnel. The 2-1 (1-2 ATS) Philadelphia Eagles will play host to the 1-2 (1-2 ATS) Washington Redskins in a key NFC East division battle. Kickoff is set for 4:15 PM EST.
The Redskins shocked the NFL in the opening week by beating the Dallas Cowboys but have since lost 2 straight. They blew a 17 point lead to the Texans in Week 2 and then lost an embarrassing game to the Rams last week. The defense has been absolutely abysmal, giving up a league-worst 423.7 yards per game. They are being gouged for over 325 yards per game through the air. On top of that, the team cannot run the ball, as they rank 28th in the NFL with just 74.3 yards rushing per game. Donovan McNabb has played efficiently with a quarterback ranking of 89.2, but needs to find more big plays and get into the end zone (he has just 2 touchdown passes on the season).
The Eagles lost to the Packers in Week 1 and suffered an injury to starting quarterback Kevin Kolb in the game. He was replaced by Michael Vick who has played MVP-calibre football ever since and led the Eagles to 2 straight wins, while taking the starting job from Kolb. Vick has thrown for 750 yards and 6 touchdowns, without an interception in 2+ games of action. He has also taken off for 170 yards and a score on the ground. The Eagles are third in the league, scoring 27.7 points per game. They also haven’t allowed much through the air on defense, averaging just 183.3 yards against per game.

Redskins vs. Eagles Prediction for Week 4:
Game Total Prediction (TOP PLAY) – Washington has really struggled on the defensive side of the ball so far this season. Things are not going to get much easier for them against a white hot Michael Vick and company. I expect Vick to continue to play well and pile up yards through the air and on the ground. The total has gone over in Washington’s last 4 road games and likewise is 9-3-1 in Philly’s last 13 at home. Expect the Eagles to put up a good chunk of these points and the Redskins going to the air to play keep up.
Spread Prediction – This is a massive game for Donovan McNabb who was often the whipping boy when things went wrong during his Eagles tenure. The city is now in love with Michael Vick and McNabb will definitely have something to prove. This series has generally produced tight games and the Redskins are 7-3-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings between the clubs. I think it will take a few lucky breaks for Washington to win outright, but based on history and McNabb being under center, I expect them to keep it close.
