The San Diego Chargers will begin life without running back LaDainian Tomlinson this season. Due to the emergence of speedy Darren Sproles, the Chargers let Tomlinson go, and he has now signed on with the New York Jets. Tomlinson struggled last season, rushing for just 730 yards, and 12 touchdowns. Quarterback Phillip Rivers returns after his sensational season last year, which saw him throw for 4200 yards and 28 touchdowns. The Chargers offense ranked 5th in the NFL with 271 yards, but 31st in rushing with just 89 yards per game.
San Diego comes in as the defending AFC West champions, and seems destined to win it again this season. Despite the question marks, it appears the Chargers have far more firepower than the rest of the division. San Diego will see Kansas City, Oakland and Denver twice. Outside of those games, the Chargers will host Jacksonville, Arizona, New England, Tennessee and San Francisco. San Diego will play non-divisional games at Seattle, St. Louis, Houston, Indianapolis and Cincinnati.

San Diego Chargers 2010/2011 Predictions
The Chargers, under Norv Turner are always one of the more interesting teams to prognosticate before the start of the season. Turner has had his struggles as a NFL head coach, but has also shown some solid improvement with his leadership. There is no doubt; Phillip Rivers has a great right arm that will lead the San Diego offense down the field. Speedy Darren Sproles has the ability to bust for six points at anytime, and Antonio Gates is one of the top tight ends in the league.
The defense is a bit of an issue for San Diego, and whether they can stop some of the high-powered offenses on their schedule is the question.
Our San Diego Chargers 2010/2011 predictions include them winning the AFC West, with an outside chance at receiving a first round bye.
