TCU vs. Kansas State Pick – CFB October 10th

TCU takes their National Championship dreams on the road, in what could be a dangerous game for the Horned Frogs if they don’t take Kansas State seriously. Coach Snyder can get the most out of players than most coaches in the country. No matter the talent level on KSU, Snyder has his players playing hard on a weekly basis. However, the problem is, if there aren’t enough horses in the stable, then it doesn’t matter how much you can get out of the few horses that you have. That is Kansas City in a nutshell. If he had some actual talent to work with, Snyder would have himself quite the team. With his ability to get players to play for him and some pieces on the team, it would equal something special. Snyder doesn’t have much time left coaching, so he is dealing with what he has at Kansas State. K-State has a 3-1 record, a 3-0 record before last week as they lost to Oklahoma State. This is a time in the season where we’re still feeling teams out, it isn’t so certain who is real or not. Well, if Kansas State wants to make a statement, they could do it today with a win over the number 2 ranked team in the nation.

Last week TCU had a win over Texas by the end of the 1st quarter. They pounded them for a score of 30-0 by the end of the 1st quarter. TCU let off the gas pedal at that point, but still took a 37-0 lead to the break. Nice season you have going on there Longhorns. Out of all the humiliating losses Texas had had in recent memory, this one had to be the worst. It wasn’t all that long ago that Texas dominated recruiting in the state of Texas, but everybody else has taken over. Look at Baylor, Texas Tech, and TCU are all superior to Texas. The Horns meet Oklahoma in their annual rivalry game tomorrow, we’ll see if they can get up for that one. In the case of TCU, they need to get up for this one against KSU. This seems like one of those trap games that perk up every once in a while. We don’t have to look that far back, just last week Ole Miss got upended by the Gators. Could it be the number 2 team in the countries time to go down?

TCU vs. Kansas State Pick:

Reloading is part of the TCU philosophy. One injury, two injuries, three injuries – okay I need to keep counting to get through all of the injuries that Kansas State has had to endure. Their receiving core has been banged up, but they keep on chugging along with Heisman hopeful Trevone Boykin running the show at quarterback. In these type of offenses, simply plug in receivers and the offense doesn’t suffer at all. TCU has been playing without some of their best receivers, but continue to rip the opposition. The Horned Frogs average 50.8 points per game, just eclipsing their season average last week. If it wasn’t for a fortunate bounce against Texas Tech, their record would read 4-1 instead of 5-0. But the deflected ball fell in TCU’s favorite, stealing one from the Red Raiders on 4th and goal with a few seconds left in the game. Boykin has passed for 19 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions to lead the best offense in college football.

The defense, though, yikes. Now Texas was now able to capitalize against the TCU defense last week, but is Texas capable of capitalizing against a high school team? I spoke of injuries earlier, and the TCU defense is almost entirely made up of backups. Without the injury bug, I think they’d be fine, but they’re allowing 24 points per game, which is too much for a national contender. The only really good offense they played was Texas Tech, who they gave up 52 to. SMU even scored 37 points against TCU. So, 24 points against is actually better than advertised. They also held a bad Minnesota offense down, along with SFA. KSU has averaged 34.3 points this season per game, and should be able to get the ball moving down the field against the TCU D. Look for some fireworks and points in this one with the total of 63 going OVER the total.

PICK: OVER 63 POINTS (-110)
