Temple Miami OH Spread and Predictions College Football Week 13

The matchup for the Tuesday night game (7:00 pm ET) for the upcoming week 12 of the 2010 college football season will feature the Temple Owls (8-3, 5-2 in MAC Play) traveling to Oxford, OH to take on the Miami (Oh.) Redhawks (7-4, 6-1) in Mid-American Conference (MAC) play. Temple comes into the game after losing to the Bobcats of Ohio University 31-23 at home on November 16, while Miami last played on November 17; defeating Akron in a hard fought battle on the road by a score of 19-14. The Owls won last year’s meeting 34-32 at home.

The Owls are led on offense by quarterback Mike Gerardi, who has thrown for 1,182 yards with 10 touchdowns and 6 interceptions to go with a 63.6% completion percentage. Sophomore running back Bernard Pierce remains questionable for the game with a hamstring injury. Pierce has been the Owl’s top scoring threat this season with 10 TDs on the ground to go with his 728 rushing yards and another TD receiving. Diminutive running back Matt Brown leads the team in rushing with 774 yards with 7 TDs for the Owls ground-oriented offense.

The Redhawk offense features a potent passing game led by quarterback Zac Dysert, a sophomore who has thrown for over 2,400 yards this season. Dysert will be out of action for this game with a lacerated spleen that he suffered against Bowling Green while diving for the goal line. His replacement will be freshman Austin Boucher, who threw for 213 yards and completed 68.*% of his passes against Akron. Boucher will rely on senior receiver Armand Robinson when he looks to the air; Robinson has compiled 70 receptions for 762 yards and 4 touchdowns on the season. Taking care of the ball and avoiding turnovers will be a key for the young quarterback against a tough team like Temple. Miami only averages 2.7 YPC on the ground as a team, so look for them to be reliant on the passing game to move the ball against a Temple defense that allows only 3.4 YPC, but has a porous pass defense that has allowed an average of 299.3 YPG through the air in their last 3 games.

Temple vs. Miami (Oh.) Prediction for Week 13 Game:

Spread Prediction (Top Play) – Miami will be a tough out at home with a defense that has tightened up against the run recently with an average of 2.4 yards per rush allowed in their last three games, and only 68 rushing yards per game in that stretch. Temple is not a big passing team with only an average of 187.4 yards per game through the air, so if the Redhawk defense can continue to stop the run Miami should have a good chance to stay in the game even with a freshman at quarterback. Conversely, if Miami can throw the ball against an increasingly shaky Temple pass defense, look for Temple to have a great deal of trouble staying in the game on the road. That is a big if, but we like Miami taking the points at home in this one.

PREDICTION (Top Play) – Miami (Oh.) +8

Over/Under Prediction – Take the over here, Miami will look to throw the ball and Temple can put some points up with their ground game, so expect the total to come in just over the number.

PREDICTION – Over 44
