The Indianapolis Colts take on the Houston Texans in a huge AFC South matchup at Lucas Oil Stadium this week on Monday Night Football. The Colts will be looking for revenge after the Texans beat them in week 1. In that game, RB Arian Foster ran for 231 yards, 3 TDs and was the difference between the two teams. The Colts run defense has improved after being exposed by the Texans, but it’s still a weak point that can be exploited by Houston’s 6th ranked offense. This game is one of the most anticipated of the week, not only because it’s on MNF between two potential playoff teams and division rivals, but both the Texans and Colts are coming off their byes.

After the Colts started the season 2-2, many people wrote them off. But since that start they’ve won 2 straight games and are back to being one of the better teams in the AFC again. Manning has been his consistent self this season, and there’s no reason to believe he won’t finish atop the rankings in yards, TDs and completion percentage. The run defense has been their problem this year. In their week 4 loss to the Jaguars, Indy gave up over 140 yards on the ground. However in their 4 wins this year, they’ve given up an average of 89 yards on the ground. The key to a Colts victory this week is to stop the run. Whether they can do it or not remains to be seen.
The Texans started out with a bang, going 3-1 to start the year, but have been inconsistent since then. Two home losses to the Cowboys and Giants showed us that Houston isn’t yet at the level they need to be in the AFC. What’s holding them back is their inability to stop their opponents passing game. They rank last in defensive passing yards, total yards, and 29th in total points allowed. We’ll find out on Sunday if the extra week to prepare paid off.

Texans vs. Colts Prediction for Week 8 Betting:
Spread Prediction (Top Play): Houston have the unenviable task of facing Peyton Manning and the Colts coming off a bye week. Manning is 5-0 in his last 5 off the bye, and no player in the game is better at preparing himself with the extra time off. Both teams have weaknesses that can be exploited, but the Colts are a different team at home. They’re 2-0 at Lucas Oil this year and gave up 14 points to a potent Giants attack and 9 points to the number 1 rushing team in the league, the Chiefs. They feed off the crowd and make it very difficult for the opposing offense to get in sync. I think Indy will load up and stop the run, forcing Schuab to beat them. I like the Colts to win by a TD here.
Game Total Prediction: Both teams put up numbers, ranking 6th and 3rd in total points. And both teams have problems stopping their opponents. This is an important divisional game, indoors, and both teams will have to score points to win. This will be a classic shootout between two of the league’s best QB’s. The Over is 10-1 in the last 11 meetings, and 6-1 in the last 7 in Indy.
