Randy Moss makes his 3rd season debut this week as his newest team, the Tennessee Titans, take their talents down to South Beach to take on the Miami Dolphins. Tennessee are coming off a bye while Miami lost in Baltimore last week.
All the questions in this game centre on whether Randy Moss will make an impact with his new team. Well, there’s no doubting his talents, and although he does give up at times, he’ll want to make an impact in his first game. In fact, let’s look at some numbers. In Moss’ debut with the Vikings in ‘98, his line was 4 rec for 95 yrds and 2 TDs. In his debut with Oakland in ‘05 he had 5 rec for 130 yrds and 1 TD. With New England in ‘07 he had 9 rec for 183 yrds and 1 TD, and with Minnesota this year in week 6 against the Jets he had 4 rec for 81 yrds and 1 TD. Clearly Moss likes to make a good first impression, and this week the Dolphins will have their hands full.
Miami are 4-4 on the year but it’s been a tough year for them playing at Dolphin Stadium. They haven’t won a game at home all season, losing to the Jets, Patriots and the Steelers. Their main problem has been executing in the red zone, as they’ve had to rely on Kicker Dan Carpenter in recent weeks. Carpenter hit 5 field goals in back to back games over the Steelers and Bengals, while Miami have only scored 3 TD’s in their last 3 games. Naturally, a change had to be made, so enter Chad Pennington. Pennington’s been named starter for the Dolphins this week, and that can’t be good news for Brandon Marshall. Pennington hasn’t taken a regular season snap since week 3 of 2009, when he suffered a season ending shoulder injury which required surgery. It’s hard to tell how much strength he’ll have in his arm, but the Dolphins figure to go run and wildcat heavy this week.

Titans vs. Dolphins Prediction for Week 10 Betting:
Game Total Prediction (Top Play): This is a tough matchup between two predominantly rushing teams that have opposing running styles. The Dolphins like to pound the ball and keep it for long stretches of the game, while the Titans have Chris Johnson who’s always a threat to break a huge run for a TD. There’s a lot of uncertainty on the offensive side of both teams, with Pennington for Miami and Moss/Vince Young/Kerry Collins for the Titans. I like this game to stay Under the number this week. Miami will run the ball even when they’re losing so this will take time off the clock. The Under is also 5-0 in the last 5 meetings in Miami and 4-1 in the last 5 overall.
Spread Prediction: The way the Dolphins have played this year at home, it’s hard to bet on them. Tennessee are coming off a bye, and a 17 year veteran head coach like Jeff Fisher will have his players ready. They have the defense to imitate what the Ravens did last week, and there’s enough tape out there of what Pennington can do (or not do) to figure him out. I like the Titans to cover this and win by more than a field goal.
