New Meadowlands Stadium will be the site of an inter-conference clash as the New York Giants play host to the Tennessee Titans. New York comes into the game 1-1 (1-1 ATS) and the Titans are also 1-1 (1-1 ATS). Kickoff will be at 1 PM EST.
The Titans are a team in a bit of disarray just one week after thumping the Oakland Raiders. Tennessee was stifled and turned the ball over 7 times in a 19-11 loss to Pittsburgh last week. Starting QB Vince Young was benched in favour of the ageless Kerry Collins but will be back to start this week. He better pick up his game against New York as he was picked off twice last week and fumbled it twice more before being mercifully yanked by head coach Jeff Fisher. Titans RB Chris Johnson had his worst game in a long time, piling up just 34 yards on 16 carries. This snapped a 12 game streak for Johnson of rushing for over 100 yards. Tennessee features the top ranked defense in the league in yards allowed, at just 206.5 per game. They have allowed just 85.5 yards per game through the air but face their toughest test at quarterback this week in Eli Manning. The Titans have been a team that usually bounces back after poor performance, going 14-4 in their last 18 games when being held to less than 15 points the previous game.
Meanwhile, the Giants looked awful on Sunday night against the Colts, getting pounded 38-14 on national television. This followed a strong 31-18 win over Carolina in Week 1. Eli Manning and the offense never really got it going against Indianapolis. Manning completed 13 of 24 passes for 161 yards and 2 touchdowns, but was intercepted once and fumbled the ball 3 times, losing two of them. It doesn’t figure to get much easier against a stingy pass defense in Tennessee, who also are adept at creating turnovers. The Giants’ defense was also carved up for 410 yards against the Colts. Running back Ahmad Bradshaw was the lone bright spot for New York, rushing for 89 yards on 17 carries. The team needs to clean up their 30th ranked defense in points allowed at 28 per game. This was the same problem that derailed the team last year, after a 5-0 start.

Titans vs. Giants Prediction for Week 3:
Game Total Prediction (TOP PLAY) – The Titans have played tremendous defense so far this season and the Giants simply have not. New York can, however, move the ball and so can Tennessee if Vince Young has his head on straight. Even if he doesn’t, I expect Chris Johnson to bounce back in a huge way after his poor outing in Week 2. The total has gone over in the Giants’ last 7 contests. Top Play Prediction: Over 42.5
Spread Prediction – Each of these teams has done a Jekyll and Hyde routine in the first two weeks of the season. They each dominated their opening games then looked completely lost in Week 2. The line is set at -3 for the home team, meaning Vegas thinks the teams are even. The Titans usually bounce back as I mentioned earlier and are also 10-3 ATS in their last 13 September games. I’ll take the points in this one. Prediction: Titans +3
