The Moscow Liga Pro once again has an unlimited number of options on Thursday. We will get started Thursday morning in North America with a selection between Alexey Yanshaev and Viktor Ivanov at 5:00 a.m. EST. I never envisioned breaking down a table tennis match in Russia in April, but expect the unexpected is how you have to look at life. The NHL Playoffs should be in full swing right now; the most exciting playoff in sports.
Instead, though, we’re in Russia handicapping the Moscow Liga Pro. Having said that, it doesn’t mean we still can’t find winning selections. Table tennis still affords us that opportunity. It’s been fairly positive thus far, as we enter Thursday with a record of 24-16 at the table.
We’re fresh off a 2-0 day Tuesday and hope to find another today. The NHL, NBA, and MLB continue to brainstorm ideas to get their seasons up and running, but it’s not clear at all when that may be. All of them are intending on playing at neutral sites in centralized cities, either one or more.
The problem is that only one positive case within the organization could set everything back again. All of the trouble that went into planning a restart would quickly go for absolutely nothing. Golf is eyeing a return in June, and I think at the earliest, the other leagues are looking at July if that’s what they want to do. Keep in mind that they can’t just pop-up and play. A training camp to get back into game shape will be implemented. That’d probably have to begin in June at some point.
Table tennis is showing no signs of slowing down, though. In fact, more leagues are on the menu now, with some sportsbooks offering cards from Armenia. That’s a bottom tier table tennis outfit, with the Czech Republic and Russia significantly above the talent there. We aren’t going to touch too much on the Armenian table tennis circuit. Another winner in Russia on Thursday would be nice, though. Head below for our free Moscow Liga Pro pick between Alexey Yanshaev and Viktor Ivanov.
Alexey Yanshaev vs. Viktor Ivanov Betting Odds:
Alexey Yanshaev vs. Viktor Ivanov Prediction:
Alexey Yanshaev and Viktor Ivanov will meet for the 19th time in their careers on Thursday. Yanshaev is heading into Thursday with plenty of confidence, with a record of 11-4 in his previous 15 matches. Note that Yanshaev has won three straight matches, including a win against Ivanov yesterday by a score of 3-2. Yanshaev is also 4-1 in his last five contests for a nice run by the Russian. It’s been a struggle for Ivanov to get over the hump against Yansheav. Early on in their first matches things were going well.
However, Yanshaev has been able to find a lot of success against Ivanov in recent competitions. He is 7-2 against Ivanov in his previous nine games. In three of those wins, Yansheav didn’t need five sets to get a victory over Ivanov. Ivanov was on a monster slide with a record of 6-17 in 23 matches. He’s fortunately been able to stabilize and win six out of his last eight tilts. Both of his losses came against the same player, Alexey Yanshaev. This should be another close match, with Yanshaev likely coming through in the clutch again.
