Artem Aronov vs. Sergey Kuzmin Pick – Russia Pro League April 7, 2020

Another day with the coronavirus at the forefront of society across the world, and another day with table tennis at the forefront of the sports world. Besides Belarusian football, table tennis is the main attraction when it comes to sports. Betting wise, one has to think that table tennis is dominating when it comes to betting handle.

With several matches throughout the day, there’s action around the clock in Russia, Ukraine, and Czech Republic. The Nevada outpost of William Hill, reported that they’re getting up to $100,000 in bets per day. Table tennis is the big winner for sportsbooks at the moment.

I don’t know if we can even call it obscure at this point, because we’ve been without the major sports for a while and that could be the case into the foreseeable future. Wagering on table tennis might be the new normal for at least a few months. The money you win is still the same whether it’s table tennis or the NBA, so if we get out of this in the black, that’s one positive way to spin it.

Speaking of the NBA, the latest from them is that they want to play a game of HORSE. They’re desperate to stay involved and fire something up, anything will work at this point. With HORSE, players are planning to play in different gyms, so there would be no live interaction between them.

People would watch that and they’d bet on it as well, so it might be worth looking into further. However, even with something as simple as that, logistics must be taken into account. I don’t know how far they want to go with the production of it, but it could be more complicated than it sounds.

There will have to be some degree of planning that goes into the event. In any case, kudos to the NBA as they continue to brainstorm ideas to keep people interested in their product. All that table tennis needs is odds on their matches for sports bettors to be interested. We have more table tennis picks on Tuesday morning from Russia. Artem Aronov vs. Sergey Kuzmin Prediction:

Artem Aronov should prove to be a tricky opponent for Sergey Kuzmin on Tuesday in Russia. It’s not so much that Aronov is an overly terrific table tennis player, it’s just that his competition in this match is not strong. Aronov has gone 6-2 in his previous eight matches. Not a bad run for Aronov who went 4-2 on Monday. One of those wins came against Kuzmin. He overpowered Kuzmin for an easy win in straight sets to earn his fourth win in five matches over Kuzmin. Two of those wins came in straight sets, while another was over in four sets in favour of Aronov.

Kuzmin exited Monday with a bit of momentum after dispatching Ivan Pandur in straight sets. However, Pandur is the only opponent that he had an easy time with yesterday. Kuzmin beat Pandur twice and lost to Vasily Shirhov and Aronov. The day before, Kuzmin was better with a record of 5-3 in eight matches on Sunday. However, that doesn’t fix the fact that he hasn’t been able to figure Arnov out at the table recently. I’m not in love with the price, but Aronov should nevertheless finish on top against Kuzmin here.
