Like many predicted, Canada and Russia will meet in the 2010 Winter Olympic Men’s Hockey Tournament, what many did not predict was that these two hockey supremacy’s will meet in tonight’s quarter-final game from Canada Hockey Place in Vancouver, BC.  After Canada convincingly dominated Germany on Tuesday night by a score of 8-2, it set up a dream match up between Alex Ovechkin and the Russians vs. Sidney Crosby and Team Canada.  An inspired performance last night that left no doubt should restore some Canadian faith in this hockey team, however Russia is just as hungry as Canada for Olympic Gold.  Tonight’s game is a must see so do not miss out on one of the most anticipated hockey games in the history of this great sport.

Canada vs. Russia Olympic Hockey Quarterfinal Betting Predictions:

Moneyline – Take CANADA to win tonight’s match up of the world’s best.  Canada never seems to have a strong round robin in this tournament, as they were horrid in 06′ and got thumped by Sweden in their opening game of the 02′ Olympics, a tournament in which Canada was able to come back and strike Gold.  However, Canada came up with a convincing win over Germany, and could very well keep on rolling right through the rest of this tournament.  It will be a daunting task as the Russians have looked sharp as advertised, but you gotta look to the back end when choosing a team to win.  Russia has a much weaker defensive core than do the Canadians, and many would agree that Roberto Luongo is the superior goalie to Evgeni Nabokov of Russia.  Although nothing can be guaranteed in a tournament of this variety, but look for a gigantic effort from the Canadians tonight on home ice, advancing through to the Semi-Finals.

Over/Under – A tough prediction for a game of this sort, but i am leaning towards the UNDER 5.5 total goals tonight.  Don’t be confused, I do realize that Russia has a team full of naturally-gifted goal scorers, as does Canada, but i also believe that both team’s defense and goaltending will rise to the occasion tonight with the weight of their countries on their backs.  You have to give the edge to Roberto Luongo in tonight’s game.  Not only is the proven veteran one of the best goalies in the NHL, he is playing in front of a home crowd in an arena that has been his home for several years now.  Anytime this goaltender steps into the crease, my immediate thought is UNDER, and I will go with that again tonight in what should be the best game so far of the 2010 Olympic Men’s Hockey Tournament.
