Possibly the biggest surprise of the NFL this year is the 0-4 Tennessee Titans. Just one season ago, the Titans finished with the league’s best record and ended the Colts run of five straight division titles. Pre season rankings and predictions had both teams contending for the title again this year but it looks as only one team will make the playoffs. Peyton Manning and his MVP start to the season (a franchise-record four consecutive 300-yard games) and the Colts look to improve to 5-0. To say the least, things haven’t gone smoothly for Tennessee this season. The super bowl aspirations are not looking good; they are off to their worst start since beginning 0-5 in 2006. The odds are against them as only one team has started 0-4 and make the playoffs, the San Diego Chargers in 1992. Head coach Jeff Fisher is trying to think positive as his 2002 team started 1-4 but still reached the AFC championship game. One of the biggest debated topics is who should start at QB for the Titans. Fisher has made it clear that he will stick with veteran quarterback Kerry Collins for this game rather than switching to Vince Young. Collins is the leagues 28th rated passer and has six interceptions already; he had seven the whole 2008 season. To make matters worse, the Titans defense is a disaster – tied for last in the NFL in pass defense, allowing 282.3 yards per game, not a good statistic when having to prepare for one of the league’s best quarterbacks. Final Score Prediction – Colts 28 Titans 20
Spread- Peyton Manning is playing too good. In fact, the whole Colts team is playing too good. You heard it here first; I think the Colts will go 16-0 this season. They have the whole package, the offense is firing, the defense is locking teams down, don’t expect the Titans to win this one. Colts win this one with ease. Bet on the COLTS TO COVER the 4 point spread.
Over/Under- Take the over. With Manning playing as good as he has and the Titans pass defense being the worst in the league, points will be scored. Although Kerry Collins hasn’t played well, Chris Johnson is always a threat to score. He can make things happen on his own. Lay it down on the OVER 45 total points at -110 in this Colts vs Titans Week 5 game.
