The NFC EAST leading Dallas Cowboys (8-3) travel to Giants Stadium this week to battle divisional rival New York Giants (6-5). Kickoff for for what should be one of the week’s best matchups is set for 4:15 PM ET. In their last meeting in week 2, Lawrence Tynes kicked a 37 yard field goal with time expiring to win the first ever game at Dallas’ new Cowboy Stadium. Last week, the Dallas Cowboys made quick work of the visiting Oakland Raiders, dumping them 24-7 on Thanksgiving afternoon. That very same day, the Giants failed to show up in a 26-6 route handed down by the up and down Denver Broncos. The New York Giants will need to stop not only the Dallas offense in this one, but DE Demarcus Ware has elevated his play as of late, which is bad news for the Giants because they have given up 15 sacks over their 5 losses this season. A new threat has also emerged on the offensive side of the ball for Dallas, as WR Miles Austin has been hot, and leads the NFL with 6 TD catches of 20 yards or more. The Giants look to be all over QB Tony Romo in this one, especially since he has a back injury that could worsen with contact. Romo is only 5-8 in the month of December in his career. With Eli Manning and Brandon Jacobs having mediocre seasons, it has been Ahmad Bradshaw and Steve Smith stepping up for the G-man on the offensive side of the ball this year. However, Bradshaw is questionable with an ankle injury. Dallas could be without S Ken Hamlyn, also with an ankle injury. These two teams have split their last 8 meetings overall. Dallas vs. New York Betting Predictions:
Final Score – Dallas 28 New York 24
Spread – Lay down on the COWBOYS to cover the 1.5 point spread this week. Dallas got its offense back last week after only producing 14 points total in their previous 2 games. Their defense remained strong last week only giving up 7 points, and forcing a lot of punts. New York is coming off a week where offense was tough to come by, and defense was as well. The Giants were routed 26-6 proving their defense can be picked apart by a powerful offense. I look for Tony Romo to out throw Eli Manning in this one, as well as the Dallas 3-back threat to overpower the Giants defense. New York could be in real trouble in this one if Ahmad Bradshaw is sidelined. Bet on the Dallas Cowboys to cover the 1.5 point spread this week (-120) at Bodog.com.
Over/Under – I like the OVER 45 total points in this Cowboys vs Giants game. As previously mentioned, the Dallas Cowboys found their offense again, mostly because Tony Romo was able to locate his receivers much better than weeks 11 and 12. Dallas averages more passing, rushing, and total yards for per game than the Giants. I look for a high scoring affair in this one, like week 2 when the Giants knocked off the Cowboys to hand them their first loss of the season.
