The table tennis circuit is packed with action in the Czech Republic once again on Friday with the TT Star Series. There are also matches available in Russia if you’re looking for action over there. With the TT Star Series, there are fewer players in the league but it also gives you a feel for things. It’s just about impossible to keep up with all of the matches in Russia, though it’s a little easier in Czechia.
Our table tennis record, including plays from Russia, Czechia, and Ukraine is 8-6. That could be better obviously, but not going to complain about being on the plus side at the moment. There haven’t been many interruptions to their operations, but elsewhere in the table tennis world, they’ve had to work around the schedule of the virus.
The most lucrative table tennis league in the world, the China Super League, does not know when they will start their season. That includes the football China Super League and CBA as well. There were talks of the leagues getting going soon, but the government put an end to that, so the return dates are still TBD. Having said that, if you’re a table tennis fan, there are other options around the world.
There is a full day of tennis table betting available at BetOnline throughout Friday. That will continue over the weekend. These players don’t get much of a break, as they play multiple matches in a day for consecutive days. It’s not the most strenuous sport in the world, but there is a degree of athleticism and talent needed to play professional table tennis. Go and challenge one to a match and see how that goes.
David Reitspies spoiled a pick of ours on Wednesday. We faded Reitspies and it didn’t go so well. That was one of the six losses that we’ve had on table tennis. We’ll be on the other side of Reitspies on Friday morning. Hopefully he can come through for us against Antonin Gavlas, who we’ve faded once already. Head below for our free David Reitspies vs. Antonin Gavlas pick in the Czech TT Star Series.
David Reitspies vs. Antonin Gavlas Czech TT Star Series Betting Odds:
David Reitspies vs. Antonin Gavlas Czech TT Star Series Prediction:
David Reitspies is coming off a sharp day on Thursday, as he won three out of four matches. His only loss was against Tomas Tregler, who has given a lot of players in the Czech TT Star Series a strong fight. In his three other matches, Reitspies defeated Miroslav Horejsi, Tomas Konecny, and Dmitrij Prokopcov.
Reitspies has been on a nice run having won four out of his last five matches. The only one he didn’t win was against a very good Tomas Tregler. Reitspies has gone 7-5 in his last 12 matches. Three of those losses were against the same player, Konecny and Tregler. However, he did have a win versus Konency on another occasion.
One of his seven wins was against Antonin Gavlas. Gavlas is on a three-match losing streak, with losses against Konecny, Jakub Kleprlik, and Jiri Vrablik. Losing against Konecny was expected, but he should have been able to beat Kleprlik, who has not been the strongest player by any means in Czechia. Gavlas has gone 2-6 at the tables in his previou eight outings.
Reitspies and Gavlas have a recent meeting on March 26, with Reitspies sweeping Gavlas in straight sets. Reitspies got the win 11-9, 11-9, 11-9 for his third win over Gavlas in his career. He owns the series edge with three wins to two for Gavlas, and he has been playing like a much better player recently. Reitspies should have the edge on Friday.
