Eagles vs 49ers Spread Odds and Prediction

The Philadelphia Eagles (9-4) look to win a fifth straight game for the first time since 2006 when they host the (6-7) San Francisco 49ers this weekend. The Eagles look to get a step closer to a division title with a win and the 49ers are in a desperate need of a win to have realistic playoff hopes. The Eagles are on a four game winning steak and have put up more points each week during the streak. A victory Sunday plus either a Giants loss or tie or a Cowboys win or tie would put Philadelphia in the playoffs. Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson was the story last week as he had a career-high 178 yards, including a 60 yard score. He is also leading the NFL in average punt return yards at 17.8 and took a second quarter punt for a touchdown 72 yards. Jackson has eight touchdowns of over 50 yards or more this season that is currently a tie with an NFL record achieved by Chicago’s Devin Hester in 2007. San Francisco kept its division hopes alive Monday night against Arizona. The defense forced seven turnovers and running back Frank Gore ran for 167 yards and a touchdown in the 24-9 win. Even if the 49ers win out, they’ll need some serious help to get into the playoffs. They have currently lost their last six games on the road and are 5-1 over the past two seasons when Frank Gore tops the 100 yard rushing mark. Listed below are your betting lines, trends and predictions for this Eagles vs 49ers Week 15 match up.

Eagles vs. 49ers Predictions:

Final Score Prediction – Philadelphia 27 San Francisco 31

Spread Prediction – This is my upset pick of the week. Take the 49ers to beat this spread. The Eagles defense through the air is ranked 18th in the league, this is something that 49ers quarterback Alex Smith, along with his weapons Vernon Davis and Michael Crabtree will exploit. To help, left tackle Joe Staley, who has been out since November 1st is expected to return from a knee injury. The Eagles are banged up offensively as running back Brian Westbrook is still out as well as standout rookie receiver Jeremy Maclin.

Over/Under – Both teams can put up points. Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb has thrown for an average of 306.0 yards and posted a 121.9 passer rating during the Eagles’ three-game winning streak against San Francisco, tossing nine touchdowns and one interception. I expect this one to be another shootout, as that seems to be the style for the Eagles this year winning multiple games scoring over 30 points. Take the OVER 42 total points in this one.
