The Packers are looking to take advantage yet again this week against a last-place opponent when they visit the flu-ridden Cleveland Browns on Sunday. The Packers are coming of their first shutout since 2007 with a 26-0 victory over Detroit last week. In their win last week quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw for 358 yards and two touchdowns while the defense held the Lions to just 149 total yards of offense. The one negative from last week’s win was the fact that the Lion’s offensive line continues to struggle. They gave up five sacks last week bringing the season total to 25, a league-high. Looking to improve their running attack which ranks 19th in the NFL, the Packers re-signed veteran Ahman Green on Wednesday. Green was cut by Houston in February after spending six seasons at Green back from 2000-06. The Browns kept 12 players out of practice, five starters, because of flu-like symptoms. Head coach Eric Mangini is optimistic that none of these players will miss the game on Sunday. This is the Packers’ first visit to Cleveland since a 31-20 loss in 1995. Packers vs Browns Predictions:
Spread – I like Green Bay in this one. Although the spread is at nine, the Packers will easily cover this spread. Cleveland has been inconsistent on offense this year to say the least steaming from the quarterback position. Quarterbacks Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn have each split time under center and have both looked horrible doing so. Quinn’s future as a Brown is uncertain as he is in his last year of his rookie contract and if anything is an indication he put up his Cleveland home for sale last week. The Packers have all the momentum and will continue to roll as they will take this one 25-7. Take the PACKERS TO COVER the 9 point spread at Bodog.com.
Over/Under – Take the UNDER 41 total points in this Packers vs Browns game, as I don’t expect the Browns to contribute much offensively. This one will be a one sided offensive affair. Cleveland’s offense has been a liability all season. The Browns rank 31st in total yards per game (254.7), and 30th in points per game (11.5) and first downs (82). Packers win a low scoring game, lay it down on the UNDER at Bodog.com.
