The Steelers are coming off a disappointing loss to one of the worst NFL teams and now must knock off one of the hottest this weekend to maintain a reasonable chance at making the playoffs this year. The Steelers (6-7) are currently on a five game losing streak that includes losses to Kansas City, Oakland and Cleveland. All those teams have a combined 9-30 record. Their opponent, The Green Bay Packers on the other hand, are red hot. Led once again by the strong play of their quarterback Aaron Rodgers, they are currently on a five-game win streak that features impressive wins over San Diego, Minnesota and Denver. The recent struggles by the Steelers have all but put them out of the AFC North race and have them battling seven teams for a potential wild-card berth. Even if the Steelers were to win their final three games, the playoffs are still a distant shot because of their weak 4-6-conference play, a crucial tiebreaker. All nine AFC teams that aren’t below .500 own a better conference record. To make matters worse, the final three games will not be easy as they host Green Bay and Baltimore before traveling to Miami on January 3rd. The Steelers haven’t lost six in a row since November 14-December 18th of 1999 and are a disappointing 1-7 in games decided by seven points or fewer this year. The Steelers have won the last two meetings, 20-10 at Green Bay in 2005 and 27-20 at Pittsburgh in 1998. Below are you betting lines, trends and predictions for this Packers vs Steelers battle.

Packers vs. Steelers Predictions:
Final Score Prediction – Green Bay 21 Steelers 17
Spread Prediction – Protecting Ben Roethlisberger is one of the Steelers many problems. He was sacked a season-high eight times by the Browns last week and has been sacked 38 times, among the most in the NFL. Now, with a key injury to left guard Chris Kemoeatu, things could get even worse. Injuries have been killer for the Steelers as safety Troy Polamalu will miss his fifth consecutive game with a knee problem, he has played three games this season – all wins. The Packers could clinch a playoff berth with a win Sunday and will do just that, take the PACKERS to beat this spread.
Over/Under – Take the UNDER. Packers quarterback Rodgers is fourth in the NFL with a 102.5 passer rating and has been playing well, I expect the Packers to put up points. However, with the Steelers having to play this game without their starting guard and the fact that the Green Bay defense is the top ranked unit in the NFC allowing 272yards/game, it will be a low scoring outing for the Steelers offense.
