We’re back on the table tennis circuit after taking yesterday off. Monday was the worst day that I can recall since the start of our table tennis series two months ago. A bad day was inevitable eventually and it finally hit us. We were in the clear to win on the OVER in the David Reitspies-Antonin Gavlas match, with Gavlas up 9-5 in the third set to force a fourth.
If that match got to a fourth set, it was highly likely that the OVER was going to cash. Unfortunately, Gavlas lost six straight points and lost 11-9 to get swept in three sets. Our other selection went to five sets and we lost by a set.
With the day on Monday, our record stands at 40-26 going into today. There isn’t much to complain about with that. The good days severely outweighs the bad, and we’ve been able to build up a nice table tennis betting bankroll. Fortunately, there is some good news with sports returning soon in some parts of the world.
The AFL in Australia is scheduled to restart on June 11, which should provide people that aren’t fans of baseball and ping pong to look forward to. We were only able to get one pick deep into the AFL before play was halted. That was luckily a win and we were able to get into the break with a 100% success rate. It doesn’t amount to much when it’s only one selection, but I’m sure we can build on it and find more winners.
When the AFL does resume, I will be primarily focusing on that and the KBO, so let’s do our best over these next two weeks at table tennis. And don’t worry, I will still pick my spots on table tennis, just not as frequently. Barring a terrible run, we should be able to get to June 11 in the positive in table tennis.
When it comes to the Setka Cup, it was only our first loss in this tournament on Monday. That brings our mark to 7-1 in the Setka Cup. We have a pick from Ukraine in the Setka Cup this morning. Head below for our free Setka Cup pick between Igor Tyrdukh vs. Roman Makarenko on May 27, 2020.
Igor Tyrdukh vs. Roman Makarenko Setka Cup Table Tennis Betting Odds:
Igor Tyrdukh vs. Roman Makarenko Prediction:
Igor Tyrdukh and Roman Makarenko will meet for the first time on Wednesday in the Setka Cup. Makarenko is a newcomer, while Tyrdukh has been on the circuit since March. Keep in mind that the Setka Cup, and some of the other tournaments ongoing at the moment, is a mix of amateurs, semi-pro, and pro players. Some take it a little more seriously than others. If you’ve watched any of these live streams, you can probably pick out which players take it seriously and which don’t. Tyrdukh is a full-time player in the Setka Cup, and you may have already watched one of his matches.
Tyrdukh is on a nice little run recently, with eight wins in his previous ten matches for a record of 8-2. Since the start of the month, Tyrdukh has gone 36-25 for a respectable record. Makarenko has not looked comfortable at all since entering the Setka Cup on May 19. He has played in only five matches and hasn’t been able to get into a groove. Makarenko will have to play more than to find a rhythm or else he’s going to get picked apart against some of the better players in the Setka Cup.
Makarenko is a perfect 0-5 thus far, and he’s gotten swept in three sets in three of those matches. In only one match was Makarenko able to force a fifth set. Tyrdukh has gone 6-1 in his previous seven sets, and should be able to handle an opponent like Makarenko in that form. If you are looking for an early morning table tennis matchup, look at Igor Tyrdukh in a 9:35 a.m. EST contest against Roman Makarenko.
