Tonight on Spike TV famous street brawler Kimbo Slice will square off against Roy “Big Country” Nelson, in what is probably the biggest fight in The Ultimate Fighter history. Kimbo Slice holds a 3-1-0 record with 2 KO’s in professional MMA. Roy Nelson is the more experienced fighter holding a record of 13-4-0 with 6 KO’s. Kimbo Slice is of course known for his stand up brawler style of fighting, while Nelson is one of the better jiu-jitsu heavyweight fighters in the world. With these two different styles of fighters colliding we are sure to see a great fight tonight. The Ultimate Fighter will be aired tonight (September 30th 2009) at 10:00 PM EST.
The biggest question in this Kimbo Slive vs Roy Nelson match up will be if Kimbo can handle the ground game that Nelson brings. Kimbo Slice will try keep the fight on their feet, while Nelson will probably be looking for the early take down. Team Rampage knew that Kimbo Slice would be targeted against a wrestler or jiu-jistu fighter, and weren’t surprised when Team Rashad chose Nelson to fight against Kimbo.
Roy Nelson has lost his last two fights against two superb MMA fighters in Jeff Monson and Andrei Arlovksi. Before his last two losses he had a four fight streak of wins via the knockout. Kimbo Slice is also coming off of a loss against Seth Petruzeli from a knockout 14 seconds into the fight. Before that fight Kimbo had won his first three fights in the EliteXC.
Kimbo Slice has been working hard in the Ultimate Fighter camp, focusing on his ground game. While Roy Nelson has been taking the training lightly, and hasn’t been very coachable. This should be one hell of a fight – I am predicting Roy Nelson via submission. Bet on UFC at Bodog.com.
