Mayweather Jr vs Marquez Fight Odds

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Juan Manuel Marquez are set to square off on July 18th 2009 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.  Floyd Mayweather formally announced his return to boxing on May 2nd 2009 at a news conference at the MGM Grand, which gave the boxing world a lot of hype.  The sportsbooks have announced the odds for the Mayweather/Marquez fight, and Mayweather is the heavy favorite as anticipated.

Mayweather Jr. vs Marquez Fight Odds:

Floyd Mayweather Jr. -450
Juan Manuel Marquez +300

You can place real money bets on this boxing match and others online at where you will receive up to $100 free when creating an account.  For those who don’t understand the odds listed I will give you a betting example.  If you were to place a $100 bet on Mayweahter Jr. with -450 odds it would pay out $122 if he won.  If you placed a $100 bet on Marquez to win the fight it would pay out $400 with the +300 betting odds if he wins.

This July 18th boxing match will be a scheduled 12 round fight at a 144 lbs catch weight agreement.  This is Mayweather Jr.’s first fight since the Ricky Hatton fight which took place on December 8th of 2007.  Mayweather Jr announced his retirement from boxing after the Hatton fight but later decided to return to the ring to fight Marquez after 19 months of retirement. Mayweather Jr holds a professional record of 39 wins and 0 losses (25 of the wins coming from knockout).  The 35 year old Juan Marquez of Mexico holds an impressive record of 55 wins, 4 loses and 1 draw (37 wins via knockout).  Marquez has fought more recently, beating Juan Diaz by TKO in February of this year.

This is a tough fight to decide who to bet on because the betting odds are so one sided.  You won’t be getting too much of a return on your money betting on Mayweather Jr with the odds listed because he is such a heavy favorite.  It is hard to go against Mayweather Jr. in any fight, but with +300 odds on Marquez and the long lay off that Mayweather Jr has had I will probably be placing my bet on Marquez to upset Mayweather.  Whatever you decide to bet on good luck, it should be a good fight!
