If you want more table tennis picks, you got your wish because there’s more table tennis predictions coming your way for Tuesday morning. We split our two picks in dramatic fashion on Monday. The Setka Cup pick was a success on Pavel Volkov. He went ahead 2 sets to nothing and was on the verge of getting the sweep after erasing an 8-1 deficit in the third set.
However, with two opportunities to end the match with one more point, his opponent fought back to force a fifth set. It was all for nothing, though, as Volkov dominated in the fifth set to win his match by a score of 3-2. Later in the morning, Jiri Vrablik swept Tomas Konecny in straight sets, 3-0, to prevent us from just missing out on another 2-0 table tennis day.
Tough beat in that one, as all we needed was Konecny to win a set and we would have been golden. All three sets were close, with Vrablik winning by 2 points in each set, and he needed a comeback late in the third set. Konecny was up 9-7 and needed a couple of points to force a fourth set, which would have led to a winner on the OVER.
It wasn’t meant to be, though, as Konecny choked up the lead and lost 11-9. You don’t typically see that from a player of Konecny’s caliber. That said, it can happen to the best of players in every tournament. The best know how to shake it off and move on. Vrablik will be back out at the table tennis courts in Prague on Tuesday looking for more success.
Vrablik is scheduled to play three matches today against Jakub Kleprlik, Dmitrij Prokopcov, and Miroslav Horejsi. His final match of the day is set to take place around 6:15 a.m. EST against Horejsi. Horejsi will play three matches on Tuesday as well. His opponents for today are Jakub Seibert, Stanislav Kucera, and then Vrablik to end his day at the office. Seibert should be an easy win for Horesi, though Kucera and Vrablik may give him a headache. Head below for our free Miroslav Horejsi vs. Jiri Vrablik pick for May 19, 2020 in the Czech TT Star Series.
Miroslav Horejsi vs. Jiri Vrablik Czech TT Star Series Table Tennis Odds:
Miroslav Horejsi vs. Jiri Vrablik Prediction:
Jiri Vrablik had to be nearly perfect to beat a challenger like Konecny in straight sets. He wasn’t perfect at times, but enough throughout the match to frustrate Konecny and end the day with a huge win. Vrablik won two of his matches on Monday against Kucera and Konecny, while losing his match prior to playing Konecny versus Antonin Gavlas.
Gavlas and Vrablik are about on the same level talent wise, so that was one that could have gone in either direction. Having said that, Vrablik has been playing well for almost a month now. Vrablik is 23-12 in his previous 35 matches. Since April 2, Vrablik has been efficient with a 51-26. That’s good enough to compete with the best players in the Czech TT Star Series tournament.
Horejsi goes into Tuesday with a record of 25-33 in his previous 58 matches. He’s a mid-tier player in this tournament that can look really good against the less talented players, but struggles when he’s pressed into action against the top competitors. That’s especially been true against Vrablik, who he owns a record of 4-15 against in 19 matches. Vrablik is on a roll against Horejsi with four straight wins and a record of 10-1 against Horejsi in their last 11 matches. I think that straight set win versus Konecny should provide Vrablik with some confidence going into today. Vrablik looks like the play here.
