NHL Predictions and Free NHL Picks January 20th

Tonight, January the 20th, features only 3 games on an NHL schedule that has brought us some quality action so far this week.  Tonight’s featured games include the New Jersey Devils playing host to the Florida Panthers, the St. Louis Blues travel to the Bell Centre in Montreal to do battle with the Canadiens, and the Edmonton Oilers welcome the Vancouver Canucks to Oil Country.  Although their is a shortage of games tonight, the opportunities don’t stop in the NHL all season long, so be sure to get your FREE NHL predictions and picks below.

NHL Predictions and Free Picks January 20th:

Florida Panthers @ New Jersey Devils – New Jersey return home tonight after a season-long 5 game road trip, ending with 3 straight losses and 2-3 record on the trip.  The Devils offense is ice cold as their powerplay has went 0 for its last 16 which includes an 0 for 2 in a 4-0 loss to the Islanders on Monday night in New York.  Florida managed to come out victorious in their last visit to the swamp, winning 4-2 on December 11th.  However, the Panthers are 5-17-1 in their last 23 visits to New Jersey, and 10-35-3 in their last 48 meetings overall.  I like the home team to get back on track tonight in New Jersey.

Free Pick – DEVILS to win (-182)

St. Louis Blues @ Montreal Canadiens – St. Louis comes into this game fresh off having their season-high 4 game win streak snapped by the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday.  The loss was the start of a 3 game road trip which continues tonight in Montreal and tomorrow night in Ottawa.  The Canadiens look to avoid dropping 3 straight, after coming out strong only to give up 6 unanswered goals in their last action against the New York Rangers on Sunday.  St. Louis has found their offense again after firing head coach Andy Murray on Jan 2.  The OVER is 4-1 in their last 5 meetings, and 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Montreal.  I like the OVER tonight as an underdog from the Bell Centre.

Free Pick – OVER 5.5 goals (+125)

Vancouver Canucks @ Edmonton Oilers – This the 5th meeting of the season between these two.  Vancouver is coming off their best performance of the season, routing the defending champion Penguins 6-2 on Saturday in Vancouver.  The same cannot be said for Edmonton as they were routed by the Avalanche 6-0 on Monday in Denver.  However, serious changes can be made in Edmonton if changes on the ice do not happen.  Edmonton plays Vancouver hard in Oil Country, as the Canucks are just 2-5 in their last 7 in Edmonton.  The home team is also 5-0 in the last 5 games between these two, and I look for that trend to continue tonight in favor of the home underdog.

Free Pick – OILERS to win (+155)
