NHL Predictions and Free Picks December 2nd:
Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Boston Bruins – The Boston Bruins are hot of late, winning 5 of their last 6 overall, including 3 of their last 4 after underrated centre Marc Savard has returned to the lineup. The Lightning on the other hand have dropped 3 of their last 4 overall including 2 one-goal losses during that span. Tampa Bay will be very hungry for a win tonight as they have lost 3 of their last 4 on the road, and have slipped 10 points back of the division-leading Washington Capitals. With the Boston powerplay hot, and the Tampa Bay offense fairly explosive, I look for a high-scoring game tonight in Boston, just like 2 of the last 4 meetings between these two.
Free Pick – Bet on the OVER 5.5 total goals at +120
Colorado Avalanche vs. Florida Panthers – Craig Anderson makes his return back to Florida tonight after 3 seasons spent as the Panther backup goaltender, and is expected to start. Anderson recorded his 3rd shutout of the season on Monday in Tampa Bay, blanking the Bolts 3-0 while stopping all 33 shots fired his way. The Panthers will start Scott Clemmensen after Tomas Vokoun’s unfortunate ear injury will keep him out of the lineup day-to-day. The Avalanche average more goals for, and less goals against per game than the Panthers, and clearly have the goaltending advantage in tonight’s matchup in Florida. I look for the Avalanche to stay strong on the road tonight.
Free Pick – Bet on the AVALANCHE to win at -120
Nashville Predators vs. Minnesota Wild – The Minnesota Wild come into this game with a few key injuries including team Canada prospect Brent Burns out with a concussion and Peter Sykora and Pierre-Marc Bouchard both on injured reserve, although key off-season acquisition Martin Havlat is expected to return to the lineup tonight from a hamstring injury. Nashville has no injuries to report, and have held their opposition to 3 goals or less in 9 straight games, before losing 5-0 to Calgary on Monday. The Preds are 8-2-0 in their last 10 games overall, and sit in 2nd place, 6 points behind the Central division leading Chicago Blackhawks. I look for the Predators to continue their winning ways tonight in Minnesota.
Free Pick – Bet on the PREDATORS to win at +100
