NHL Predictions and Free Picks December 9th:

Washington Capitals vs. Buffalo Sabres – The red hot Washington Capitals take a 6-game winning streak into HSBC arena tonight, as well as a 7-1-2 record in their last 10 overall.  While the Sabres have played well overall, they enter this contest with only one goal in their last 2 games, the most recent being a record tying shutout for Martin Brodeur over the Sabres on Monday night.  Lyndy Ruff put his team through an hour of video yesterday before a heavy skate which is odd for a day before a game.  Look for the Sabres to come out hard tonight as well as the streaking Capitals in order to push the total over.

Free Pick – OVER 5.5 total goals at -120 – Bet it at www.Bodog.com

New York Rangers vs. Chicago Blackhawks – The Struggling Rangers head into Chicago tonight bosting a 2-4-0 record in their last six, with only one of those wins coming in regulation.  The Rangers have not been getting their usual goaltending, as Henrik Lundvist has given up 4 goals three times during that 6-game stretch; something that has happened only 2 other times all season.  On the other side, Antte Niemi has been stellar this season with a 5-1-1 record and a tiny 1.71 goals against average.  Chicago is also in an offensive slump, but managed to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 in their most recent outing, mostly due to their goaltending.  I look for a low total tonight in Chicago.

Free Pick – UNDER 5.5 total goals at -120 – Bet it at www.Bodog.com

Los Angeles Kings vs. San Jose Sharks – The struggling, yet Division-leading Sharks host the Los Angeles Kings tonight in a battle of California.  Although the Kings have had Jonathan Quick in goal for all but 2 games this year, Erik Ersberg is likely to get his first start in net for L.A. since Nov. 13.  The Sharks have dropped their last two games to St. Louis and Calgary on Thursday and Saturday.  San Jose has not lost 3 games in a row at home since 2007.  While the Sharks average almost 3.3 goals per game, the Kings can score as well, averaging a hair under 3 per game.  Seeing as the Kings are starting a backup against a highly-potent Sharks offense, I look for plenty of scoring tonight in the Shark Tank.

Free Pick – OVER 5.5 total goals at -110 – Bet it at www.Bodog.com
