NHL Predictions and Free Picks February 9th:

Boston Bruins @ Buffalo Sabres – The Bruins have made headlines over the past few weeks for all the wrong reasons as they were riding a 10-game losing streak into Sunday where the finally got a win in Montreal. The Sabres come into tonight’s gave having lost 4 straight for the 2nd time in a month, and as a result their lead in the Northeast division is down to a single point over the surging Ottawa Senators. Although Boston has taken two of the three meetings so far this season, the Bruins are just 1-5 in their last 6 visits to HSBC Arena, and the home team is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings between these divisional rivals. Take the home favorite tonight at a reasonable price.

Free Pick – SABRES to win at -145

Vancouver Canucks @ Tampa Bay Lightning – East meets West tonight as two hot teams will collide in Tampa Bay, a place where the Lightning have been at their best all season. The Lightning are 5-1 in their last 6 home games and 6-2 in their last 8 games overall. However, the Canucks are in the middle of an intense divisional race in the West, and are 8-2 in their last 10 games. The Canucks are 21-7-1 in their last 29 games vs. the Southeast Division, and 6-1 in their last 7 games following a win. The Canucks are also 6-1-2 in their last 9 meetings with the Lightning, which points me toward the road favorite to remain hot in Tampa.

Free Pick – CANUCKS to win at -145

Detroit Red Wings @ St. Louis Blues – The Detroit Red Wings unhealthy season gets a bit healthier tonight as they gladly welcome back sniper Johan Franzen to the lineup after being out since the Red Wings home opener on Oct 8 with a torn ACL. This is the 5th of 6 meetings this season between the Wings and Blues, with St. Louis taking 3 of the previous 4. St. Louis has been a story of inconsistency this year which lead to a coaching change, and their numbers do not add up well against the Wings. Detroit is 20-7-4 in their last 31 visits to St. Louis, and 41-17-4 in their last 62 meetings with the Blues overall. Take the veteran wings to come out big tonight in St. Louis.

Free Pick – RED WINGS to win at -130

*Bonus Pick – OVER 5.5 at +120 – Over is 5-2 in Detroit’s last 7 games overall, 9-4-1 in the Blues last 14 home games, 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between these two, and 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in St. Louis. Bet the OVER here for some good value.
