NHL Predictions and Free Picks for October 22nd:

Washington Capitals vs Atlanta Thrashers – A good match up tonight with Alexander Ovechkin and Ilya Kovalchuck facing off.  The Capitals come into the game with a 4-2-2 record, while the Thrashers have a surprising 4-1-1 record.  Both teams have been scoring 3.5 goals per game while holding opponents to under 3.  The Thrashers are improved, but I don’t think they can beat this solid Capitals team.

Free Pick – Capitals to win at -125 ($100 bet pays out $180 at Bodog.ca)

New York Islanders vs Montreal Canadiens – The Islanders are fresh off their first win of the season last night at home against the Hurricanes.  The Islanders were the second last team to win a game and hold a 1-3-3 record.  The Canadiens are coming off their first win since dropping 5 in a row – they have a 3-5-0 record.  Both teams are giving up over 3 goals per game.

Free Pick – Over 5.5 total goals at +100 ($100 bet pays out $200 at Bodog.ca)

Detroit Red Wings vs Phoenix Coyotes – The Red Wings have started the season a little slower than they would have liked with a 3-3-1 record, but are still one of the Stanley Cup favorites again this year.  Phoenix has had a very surprising start going 5-2-0 to start this 2009 NHL season.  Phoenix’s goal tending has been very impressive, with only a 1.43 goals against average through 7 games.  The Red Wings always seem to have the Coyotes number.

Free Pick – Red Wings to win at -125 ($100 bet pays out $180 at Bodog.ca)
