Widely scrutinized for his trade of quarterback Jay Cutler the off season, Josh McDaniel’s has enjoyed a 4-0 start and his Broncos are one of only two teams still undefeated in the NFL. McDaniel’s will welcome a familiar face when Bill Belichick and the always dangerous New England Patriots come into town. This matchup will be the first head to head battle for McDaniels and his long time mentor Belichick. McDaniels spent eight seasons under Belichick, his last three as offensive coordinator. His skills and success in helping the Patriots win three super bowls were not overlooked by the league and made him a desirable coaching candidate who was hired by the Broncos in January. New England has been renowned for its superb offensive play centered on quarterback Tom Brady, but its defense has been just as valuable this season. The Broncos defense has been the talk of the NFL this year, as Mike Nolan, former 49ers head coach, installed a 3-4 scheme that has allowed 26 points and two touchdowns, both league bests. The Patriots lost their last trip to Denver 27-13 in the divisional playoffs on Jan. 14, 2006. Betting lines, trends and predictions are listed below for this game.

Patriots vs. Broncos Betting Predictions:
Final Score Prediction – Broncos 20 Pats 17
Spread- I like the Broncos in this one. Playing at mile-high stadium is no easy task especially against this year’s Bronco’s defense McDaniels will have valuable insight into the Patriots offense that should help the game plan. Although the New England defense has played well, I am still not a believer. The unit lost five starters from a year ago and star linebacker Jerod May has been out since hurting his knee in the first game of the season against Buffalo. Kyle Orton will finally silence his critics and have a stellar game. Lay it down on Denver to beat the 3.5 point spread.
Over/Under- This game will be low scoring, the Broncos defense is amongst the best in the league and surprisingly the New England defense is as well. Both offenses are still finding their groove and not in full rhythm yet. Bet the UNDER 41 total points in this week 5 Pats vs Broncos game.
