For our second table tennis pick for April 27, 2020, we’re handicapping another table tennis match from the Czech Republic. While I’ve had success in the Liga Pro in Russia, the Czech TT Star Series in Czechia has been particularly good to me. Heading into Monday, we’ve won five in a row for an overall record of 25-16 at table tennis.
Nothing to complain about there. So long as I end up making money in the black, then this table tennis experiment went pretty well. It’s going to be hard to keep extending this winning streak, but hopefully we can push it into Tuesday. We’re going to need Tomas Tregler to come through against Miroslav Horejsi and a winning selection between Tomas Konecny and Antonin Gavlas.
Table tennis has been one of the least impacted sports by Covid-19. With no spectators to begin with in these smaller table tennis leagues, it’s been relatively easy for table tennis outfits to keep their matches flowing. Czechia recently lifted restrictions on travel within the country, though face masks are going to be required until the end of June.
The Czech TT Star Series hasn’t suspended their schedule, along with several other countries. In fact, some more leagues are beginning to pop up, including in Armenia and Brazil. The China Super League is not however going to be playing anytime soon. The Table Tennis World Championship has been pushed back until late September, early October. Hopefully we’re talking about the NFL and college football at that point, though nothing is close to a guarantee at this juncture.
The Czech TT Star Series, Setka Cup, and Moscow Liga Pro have been the most heavily bet table tennis leagues, but the options are getting larger now. Along with Armenia and Brazil, the Masters Liga, Challenger Ochsenhausen, TT Cup Ukraine are all newcomers to the fold. If something is working for you, though, stick to it instead of getting distracted by the overflow of table tennis options. We’re sticking to the Czech TT Star Series on Monday, which hopefully is the right move. Head below for our free Czech TT Star Series pick between Tomas Konecny vs. Antonin Gavlas.
Tomas Konecny vs. Antonin Gavlas Czech TT Star Series Betting Odds:
Tomas Konecny vs. Antonin Gavlas Prediction:
Tomas Konecny is one of the most respected table tennis players in Czech Republic. Especially for the Czech TT Star Series, no one is thrilled to have to play Konecny. He’s in the top-5 of players in Czechia and one of the most feared players. You will see him as a favorite more often than not, though he’s not untouchable. Konecny was on an eight-match winning streak before losing two to end his day on Friday. He was a loser by a score of 3-1 against Tregler in his most recent match. Konecny also lost against David Reitspies in a hard-fought 3-2 loss.
Konecny and Antonin Gavlas squared off on Thursday and that was another hard-fought match for Konecny. He ultimately got the win in five sets. It was a back-and-forth battle, much like their meeting before that as well. Gavlas was on the right side in that one, as he won 3-2 with a win in the fifth set by a score of 11-8.
The fourth set was tight as ever too, with Gavlas barely winning by a score of 13-11 to force one more set. Gavlas has been playing well recently. He’s a winner in eight of his last ten matches for a record of 8-2. Gavlas goes into today on a three-match winning streak, including two tight 3-2 wins over Tregler and Reitspies. Konecny is 8-2 in his last ten sets as well. If both players come to play on Monday, this is likely going to be another tight match for the two of them. With that in mind, expect to see more than 75 points scored.
