The UFC hasn’t been hosted in Brazil since 1998, but the UFC will be in Rio de Janeiro this weekend. UFC 134 has a packed card that will include a title fight between Anderson Silva and Yushin Okami. There are lots of Brazilians on the card and I think most of them are going to do well fighting in their home country. Check out the UFC 134 odds and predictions below…

UFC 134 Main Event – Middleweight Championship – Anderson Silva vs. Yushin Okami
• Anderson Silva -500
• Yushin Okami +400
Anderson Silva (30-4) is going to be headhunting against Yushin Okami (26-5), as Okami is the last fighter to beat Silva. The UFC Middleweight Championship will be on the line this time around and I don’t think Silva will give Okami a chance. Okami went 3-0 in 2010 and will look to continue his streak into 2011. In their 1st fight Silva looked much better than Okami and that was in 2007, which leads me to believe that Okami won’t have a chance unless he wins due to Silva being DQ’ed from the fight again.
There is a lot of juice on Silva and many won’t want to bet him straight this weekend. You can either parlay Silva with a couple other fighters or you can look for a prop bet such as Silva winning the fight by TKO. Silva has a unique fighting style and it poses problems for everyone that he fights. I think Silva will take it a bit slow initially, but look for him to start punching, kicking, kneeing and clinching with Okami by the 2nd and 3rd rounds if it takes him that long.
My Prediction – Anderson Silva -500
UFC 134 Main Card – Mauricio Rua vs. Forrest Griffin
• Mauricio Rua -240
• Forrest Griffin +200
Mauricio Rua (19-5) and Forrest Griffin (18-6) have Fight of the Night written all over them at UFC 134. I like Shogun to pick up a TKO victory in this fight, but I don’t think it’ll be easy. This fight has been a highly anticipated rematch between two of the best light heavyweights in the UFC. Griffin won the 1st fight by submitting Rua as an underdog, but I don’t think he’ll end up with the same result this weekend. Shogun lost to Machida and came right back to beat him in a rematch and I think he’ll take care of business in his home country against Forrest.
My Prediction – Mauricio Rua -240
UFC 134 Main Card – Antonio Nogueira vs. Brendan Schaub
• Brendan Schaub -250
• Antonio Nogueira +210
Brendan Schaub (8-1) is favoured over the veteran Antonio Nogueira (32-6-1) at UFC 134. Nogueira has been shaky lately and hasn’t been in the cage that much, but I expected him to fight on the main card in Brazil. Antonio beat Randy Couture in 2009 and lost to Cain Velasquez in 2010 while Brendan Schaub hasn’t lost since losing to Roy Nelson (4-0). Schaub hasn’t fought a competitor like Nogueira yet, but I think he’ll pick up the victory and move onto bigger and better fights in the near future.
My Prediction – Brendan Schaub -250
UFC 134 Main Card – Edson Barboza vs. Ross Pearson
• Edson Barboza -320
• Ross Pearson +260
Edson Barboza (8-0) is another young fighter that’s a big favourite over his competition. Ross Pearson (12-4) is only a couple years older than Barboza, but he definitely has more UFC experience. Barboza has won 6 of his fights by TKO and there is no doubt he’ll be looking to lay Pearson flat out on the mat in Brazil this weekend at UFC 134. Pearson beat Spencer Fisher earlier this year and should have lots of confidence, but I think Barboza has more to prove. Ross has only lost to Cole Miller in the UFC, but I really don’t think he’s on the same level as Barboza, who has great power in both his punches and leg kicks.
My Prediction – Edson Barboza -320
UFC 134 Main Card – Luiz Cane vs. Stanislav Nedkov
• Luiz Cane -220
• Stanislav Nedkov +180
Luiz Cane (11-3) and Stanislav Nedkov (11-0) will kick-off the UFC 134 main card this Saturday. Nedkov is undefeated in his MMA career, but he’ll be making his UFC debut against Luiz Cane. Cane has a worse record than Nedkov, but Cane has been fighting in the UFC since 2007 and he’s gone 4-3 during his time in the UFC. Luiz was on a 2-fight losing streak before beating Eliot Marshall earlier this year. Cane needs to continue winning on he may see his time in the UFC come to an end. Nedkov is a more balanced fighter, but Cane has the better striking skills. I think Stanislav will be a bit overwhelmed making his UFC debut in Brazil against a tough Brazilian like Cane and for that reason I’m going with the favourite.
My Predictions – Luiz Cane -220
