The Barclays, also known by its traditional name “The Westchester”, is set to kick off this weekend. The Barclays tournament will return to the Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey for 2010, where it was held in 2008 when the tournaments most frequent winner, VJ Singh, took the title. The Barclays tournament began in 1967, and was referred to as the Westchester Classic until 1976 where the name took on a series of sponsorships. Most recently in 2007 it has been changed to “The Barclays” from Barclays Classic, which it was named in the 2005 and 2006 tournaments.
Last years Barclays winner was Heath Slocum who took a 1 stroke victory by shooting 9 under par at the Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey. Slocum is listed at +18000 odds for this weekends Barclays.

The Barclays Predictions for 2010:
Rory McIlroy @ +1350 – Rory will be seeing his first playoffs action on the tour and is looking to make a splash. He has placed in the Top 10 in each of his last three tour starts, which included a T3 at St. Andrews despite shooting the 80 on the second round. McIlory is consistent, and consistently good. Look for Rory to have another solid weekend of golf, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see finally come out on top this weekend.
Dustin Johnson @ +3200 – Not enough can be said about Dustin Johnson, who is for sure one of the hottest golfers coming into The Barclays. Johnson finished T5 at the PGA Championship, T14 at The Open Championship and T8 a the US Open. Dustin has something to prove over these next few weeks and this weekend could be when he steps up.
Jeff Overton @ +7500 – Overton has three second place finishes this year, which included the recent Greenbrier Classic. Jeff held a three shot lead going into Sunday at the Greenbrier but couldn’t withstand, as Stuart Appleby put on a spectacular performance shooting a 59 on Sunday. Overton has been named to the United States squad for the Ryder Cup, becoming the first American to make the team without having a PGA Tour victory. Jeff is my longshot pick for this weekend’s Barclays.
