Belmont Stake Picks and Odds – Bet on Belmont Stakes

The 142nd Belmont Stakes will be taking place on the 5th of June this year in Elmont, New York at the magnificent Belmont Park. If you’ve missed the first two Triple Crown events then this will be the last chance you have to watch a Triple Crown event until the next racing season. It’s a shame that we won’t be able to see the two previous Triple Crown winners from earlier this year, but they’re both taking the Belmont Stakes off to rest.

Earlier this year “Super Saver” managed to take the show at the Kentucky Derby and “Lookin at Lucky” walked away with the title at the Preakness Stakes. Since neither of these two thoroughbred horses will be in attendance a new thoroughbred is going to get to walk away with the legendary blanket of white carnations this year in the third and final leg of the Triple Crown series. It’s tough to say who is going to win at this point since we haven’t had a chance to watch the horses practicing yet, but we’re going to give you a few early options that look good.

If you have never watched the G1 Belmont Stakes race before then I’m going to share a few quick facts with you about the race so that you can enjoy it a bit better. This is the final race of the Belmont Stakes event and most likely won’t start until 6:00-6:30PM on June 5th. The first race of the day will begin at around 11:30AM, which means we’ll all have a full day of horse racing to watch and wager on.

The field has yet to be finalized, but it’s expected that the race will feature about a dozen horses. The clear favorite in a lot of people’s minds is Ice Box heading into the week before the race, but it’s been proven time in and time again that the favorite doesn’t always walk away the victor. Ice Box finished in second place at the Kentucky Derby and wasn’t that far behind the winner Super Saver and this is the main reason the horse is a favorite at the moment. Ice Box didn’t race in the Preakness Stakes and should be ready for the long race come June 5th.

A lot of people have been talking about UptownCharlyBrown as well this week since most people feel the horse has a good shot at contending this year at the Belmont Stakes. The horse recently switched to a new barn and it just so happens that the trainer is the same trainer that won the Belmont Stakes in 2006 with a horse by the name of Jazil, which I’m sure some of you remember. Stately Victor is another horse expected to be in the race this year and some people have been talking about laying some money on the horse, as it should pose a good value. Earlier in the year Stately Victor won a race at 40-1 odds and although the horse will be a long shot come race day, it may be worth a look.
