Breeders Cup Classic Odds 2010

The Breeder’s Cup Classic is set for Saturday evening and is highly anticipated due to a California based mare named Zenyatta. What has people buzzing is Zenyatta’s 19-0 start to her career. Questions abound as to whether or not she will be as dominant in such a tough field, as many believe she has only beat weaker competition to this point. The field is 12 strong and the purse is $5 million. The length of the race is 1 ¼ miles. This preview will outline the chances for Zenyatta to run her win streak to 20 straight, along with the odds for a couple other horses in the race.

Breeders Cup Classic Betting Odds:

Zenyatta (Odds = even or +100) – The pay isn’t great at even odds for Zenyatta, who opened at 8-5. Public money and sentimental betting has driven the price down to even. She obviously is the odds-on favorite, but the competition is tougher than she is used to. Zenyatta has won many times with a late closing kick, which may be tougher in the field of 12. This will be the last race in her career and she will go down as one of the all-time greats in horse racing, win or lose. Many are pulling for her to win the race, even though betting on her won’t make you rich. Critics of Zenyatta point to the fact that 17 of her wins have been on the synthetic turf of California raceways. The interesting thing to note is that her two runs on dirt were also the races she won by the widest margin in her career. If you are looking to root for history and a tremendous feel-good story, go with Zenyatta. At the very least, make sure to get her into an exacta or trifecta, as she should be right near the top even if she doesn’t win the race.

Lookin at Lucky (Odds = +250) – The second favorite in this race is Lookin at Lucky. The horse is trained by Bob Baffert, who has a long history of big wins. He has trained horses to wins in the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes. Lookin at Lucky won the Preakness Stakes earlier this year, which was the fifth Preakness that Baffert has won. The colt has won 9 of the 12 races he has been in and placed in one, while showing in another. The horse comes from a good pedigree of winning horses and figures to be in contention. If you are looking for a horse with a great record and who will give you a little bit of upside on your wager, look no further than Lookin at Lucky.

Musket Man (Odds = +1700) – This is an upset pick to at least look at in an exacta or triefcta bet. If you have the guts to bet on a win, this horse will pay you handsomely if it comes in. Musket Man has never been off the board in 14 career starts. This includes a 3rd place showing in the Kentucky Derby. If you are looking for value, this horse provides it and can pay you off nicely.
