We have two racecourses covered on Wednesday, with Turf Paradise in Arizona and Charles Town on the other side of the country in West Virginia. Check out what we have at Turf Paradise on Wednesday, and if you’re looking for evening picks at Charles Town, then you are at the right spot. It’s a small day overall, but there is still ample racing available at BetOnline.
Small in comparison to what’s to come on the weekend. Gulfstream Park has the $3,000,000 Pegasus World Cup Invitational, and then the $1,000,000 Pegasus event on the turf. That should be a fun Saturday in Hallandale Beach. In the meantime, there is plenty of racing to get to during the week. Charles Town has eight races scheduled to be run on Wednesday. If you like primetime racing under the lights, then Charles Town has to be of some interest. Head below for our free Charles Town picks for January 20, 2021.

Distance:4 ½ Furlongs
In our first selection at Charles Town, we’ll check out what the feature race has to offer us. Race 3 is the feature event at $32,000, which is a short 4 ½ furlong dash on the dirt. Fiber and Emily and Dionysus’ Chalice are going to be strong runners in this event. Fiber and Emily is 5 for 24 in his career, but hasn’t been a winner since February 27.
He has finished in the top-3 in 4 of 7 races since then. In her most recent performance, Fiber and Emily finished 5th in a $49,691 event on New Year’s Day at Laurel Park. This was after Fiber and Emily placed 2nd in a $58,327 event, coming just short by 1 ¼ lengths against Lewisfield. Fiber and Emily came back to show 3rd in a $56,447 event on December 3. This is a step down in class for Fiber and Emily.
Dionysus’ Chalice is on a massive tear with four straight wins. He has gone to the winner’s circle since September 6. In his most recent outing, Dionysus’ Chalice beat Aaron’s Tap by 1 ¼ lengths in a $32,000 event. He has been destroying this class, and hasn’t finished outside of the top-2 since the summer. Fiber and Emily should give Dionysus’ Chalice a scare, but expect him to hold on.
Post Time: 9:21 p.m. EST
Distance:6 ½ Furlongs
Race 6 is another big race at Charles town, with a $30,000 purse for 6 ½ furlongs of racing. Bridging the Gap and Campy Cash should get into a hotly contested race in the stretch. Bridging the Gap is 8 for 15 in her career, and in the top-2 in six straight performances.
In her most recent win, Bridging the Gap defeated Lady Storm by 6 ¼ lengths in the $100,000 West Virginia Cavada Breeders’ Classic Stakes. It was the fourth straight win, and then placed 2nd in back-to-back races on November 21 and December 12.
Bridging the Gap placed 2nd behind Campy Cash by 6 ¼ lengths in November, and then came back to place 2nd in the $50,000 My Sister Pearl Stakes behind Star of Night by a half length. Campy Cash is looking for a hat-trick after wins on August 29 and November 21.
Campy Cash beat Arty’s Secret by 3 ¾ lengths in a $28,000 event on August 29, and then most recently beat Bridging the Gap in the race I mentioned above. Note that Campy Cash has finished in the top-3 in six straight performances, and top-2 in 5 of her last 6 races. If she shows up and wants to run today, expect Campy Cash to win this outing.
Post Time: 2:18 p.m. CST
Distance:1 1/16 Miles
Race 7 is a 1 1/16 mile event for a $29,000 purse, another decently sized event for Charles Town on Wednesday. Brutus and V. I. P. Ticket are going to be runners to watch in this event. Brutus is 4 for 19 in his career and has been in good form of late. He has been in the winner’s circle twice in his last three outings.
Brutus has also been a winner in three of his last six assignments. In his most recent win, Brutus beat In Him With Him by a half length in a $23,163 assignment. He also won three races ago on October 3 in a $20,000 event over Lectric Choke by a neck.
V. I. P. Ticket is 6 for 26 in his career, and has finished in the top-3 in seven of his last seven races. His most recent win was on December 11 in the $50,000 A Huevo Stakes by 4 lengths. That was a nice performance for V. I. P. Ticket in an event that was much tougher than this race.
V. I. P. Ticket came back on December 26 to finish 5th in the $100,000 Native Dancer Stakes. That was much too tough, but V. I. P. Ticket takes a big hit down in class to a $29,000 event on Wednesday. Expect V. I. P. Ticket to handle this competition tonight at Charles Town.
