Post Time: 7:00 p.m. EST
Distance:4 ½ Furlongs
Purse:$17,000

We will get started in the early race at Charles Town in Race 1. This event is a $17,000 event that covers 4 ½ furlongs on the dirt. Expect a potential duel between Genesis G G and Becoming Smitty in the stretch run. Both horses are primed and ready for a big run on Wednesday evening. Genesis is winless in his 12-race career, finishing 3rd, 4th, 2nd, 4th, 3rd in his previous five attempts.

He was in good form on February 6, showing 3rd in a $17,000 event. However, Genesis was too slow for Becoming Smitty, who had the edge by a length for 2nd. For a horse purchased for $1,500 in 2017, there aren’t big expectations for him in his career. The fact he’s picking up minor money in $17,000 races isn’t a bad accomplishment.

Becoming Smitty is winless in 14 races, but the form has been there for him. He’s finished 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 4th, 2nd, 3rd. After finishing ahead of Genesis G G by a length, Becoming Smitty showed 3rd on February 24 in his most recent assignment. Becoming Smitty moved up in class to a $27,000 assignment to score show money. Back down at the $17,000 level, expect Becoming Smitty to clear Genesis G G and hit the wire first.

Post Time: 8:32 p.m. EST
Distance:6 ½ Furlongs
Purse:$29,000

Race 4 is a $29,000 event covering 6 ½ furlongs at Charles Town tonight. We should hold Talent Exposed and Peppa Starr in this race. Talent Expected is off to a quick start in her career, finishing 1st and 2nd in two performances. She was a winner as a rookie on January 13 in a nice run as a first-time runner.

Talent Expected beat My Pretty Eyes by 9 lengths in a $27,000 event. That was incredibly impressive in a race that not much was expected from her. She was unable to follow up in her next performance, but still ran a solid race to place 2nd behind Peppa Star by 1 ¼ lengths.

The public liked Peppa Starr just a bit more in that race, and they were correct that time. Talent Expected should be close again, though, and waiting in the wings for a misstep by Peppa Starr. Peppa Starr is a two-time winner in two outings, winning as a rookie on November 20 by 1 ¼ lengths over Door Buster in a $27,000 assignment.

To prove that the win wasn’t a fluke, Peppa Starr came back nicely to win again on February 11 in her second appearance. Peppa Starr cleared Talent expected by 1 ¼ lengths for an impressive start to her career. Note that she has looked great in morning workouts as well, timed at 37.80 seconds at 3 furlongs and 47.60 seconds at 4 furlongs. Peppa Starr looks like the horse to go with in Race 4.

(4) Kevins Choice
+400 (4/1)
(5) Three Ball
+1500 (15/1)
(6) Favor Maker

(7) Son of Ga Ga

(9) Shortlister

Post Time: 9:02 p.m. EST
Distance:6 ½ Furlongs
Purse:$11,000

Race 5 is a $11,000 event covering 6 ½ furlongs. Kevins Chioce and Son of Ga Ga are likely going to converge in the stretch in this trip. Kevins Chioce is dropping in class after struggling to open his career. He has finished 5th, 8th, 4th, 8th, 6th. In his most recent appearance, Kevins Chioce finished 6th in a $17,000 event.

That was enough and Kevins Chioce was dropped to a $11,000 entry on Wednesday. Waiting for improvement from Kevins Chioce was no longer an option, and sliding down to a respectable level was in his best interest. Expect Kevins Chioce to run a much better race in this assignment. He will have to deal with another horse dropping classes in Son of Ga Ga.

Son of Ga Ga is winless through six races, but has finished in the top-3 on March 13. He showed 3rd in that $42,000 assignment. Son of Ga Ga didn’t do well in response, finishing 7th in a $16,000 event. Following that effort, Son of Ga Ga drops down to a $11,000 event. This looks like a good bounce-back spot for Son of Ga Ga, and a good chance of getting the win versus this inferior field.
