There is plenty of stakes racing to digest on Saturday. I’m most interested in what’s going on at Santa Anita Park. Santa Anita has more Breeders’ Cup Challenge Races on Saturday with three expected to be run. The feature event is the $300,000 Rodeo Drive and Awesome Again Stakes, which is a Grade 1 event in Arcadia at Santa Anita. If you’ve been wondering where Medina Spirit has been, then he’s at Santa Anita on Saturday running in the Awesome Again Stakes.

If you don’t care for the Santa Anita card, we have smaller racing covered on Saturday as well. We have twilight racing under the lights at Charles Town. Charles Town has eight races worth $159,500 tonight. It’s not much, but I think we can find winners. Head below for our free Charles Town picks for October 2, 2021.
Race 4
Post Time: 8:32 p.m. EST
Distance:4 ½ Furlongs
Purse:$13,200
In our first selection in West Virginia tonight, we’re looking at Race 4, a 4 ½ furlong event for a $13,200 purse. Meet Ms Bobbi Rae and Irish Knockout should have a big presence in this event.
Meet Ms Bobbi Rae is 2 for 18 in her career, and has finished 2nd, 4th, 1st, 4th in her previous four attempts.
Meet Ms Bobbi Rae beat Cedar Run’s Fire by 1 ¼ lengths for a $12,100 purse. That was a good look for Meet Ms Bobbi Rae, but she was unable to run the same in her next assignment.
She came back to finish 4th on September 11 in a $13,200 race. The slight class jump didn’t help at all. Irish Knockout is going to give Meet Ms Bobbi Rae all that she can handle.
Irish Knockout is 2 for 16, and has finished 3rd, 5th, 2nd in her previous three attempts. She had a big run on September 11 in her most recent outing, placing 2nd behind U S Funds by 1 ½ lengths in a $13,200 assignment.
The No. 6 from the outside looks like the top contender to win Race 4 at Charles Town tonight.
Race 6
Post Time: 9:32 p.m. EST
Distance:4 ½ Furlongs
Purse:$15,400
Race 6 is a 4 ½ furlong event for a $15,400 event on the dirt. Quite Suggestive and Bayou Bougie should have the strongest presence in this event.
Quite Suggestive is 3 for 18 in her career, and has been inconsistent, but has the talent to be the best in Race 6. She has finished 6th, 5th, 1st, 6th in her previous four attempts.
Quite Suggestive defeated Charm Weaver by a half length for a $13,200 purse. She couldn’t follow up and struggled in her most recent attempt, though. In a $15,400 event, Quite Suggestive dropped to 6th.
Bayou Bougie participated in that one and was the 2nd best of the field. She has finished 2nd, 7th, 3rd, 2nd in her previous four outings.
It was a close one, but Bayou Bougie came just short by 1 ½ lengths in that race. Quite Suggestive wasn’t even close there.
Prior to that outing, Bayou Bougie showed 3rd for a $12,100 purse. She has been the most consistent in this field, and is going to be more than fine if she runs the same as her last. Bayou Bougie should have the top spot in Race 6.
Race 7
Post Time: 10:02 p.m. EST
Distance:4 ½ Furlongs
Purse:$22,000
Race 7 is a $22,000 event covering 4 ½ furlongs. To The Front and Storm Boarder should have the strongest say in this one.
To The Front is 6 for 23 in his career, and is going to have a decent chance to score here. He was a consistent finisher from last summer, finishing in the top-2 in 14 of 15 attempts
However, To The Front has hit a recent snag on July 17 and September 4. To The Front finished 6th for a $20,900 purse, and then 9th in a $20,900 assignment.
In his most recent win, To The Front beat Qualify by 3 ¾ lengths for a $14,600 purse. The hike in class hasn’t helped his form.
Storm Boarder is 6 for 23 with back-to-back wins on May 2 and June 7. He beat Black Candy by 6 lengths for a $17,800 purse. Storm Boarder followed up for a 5 ¾ length win in a $14,200 race. This looks like the winner.
