Charles Town Selections for October 23, 2021 – Horse Racing Picks

TheSportsGeek has more horse racing picks on Saturday. If you are looking for big-time stakes racing you are going to be disappointed, but if you want winners, then there’s certainly going to be winning horses out there. Hopefully they’re at Santa Anita Park and Charles Town on Saturday.

Industry Leading 9% Cashback!

We have three selections at Santa Anita on Saturday afternoon, and then go to West Virginia for racing under the lights at Charles Town. There are some small stakes races out there, including a $400,000 race at Belmont Park, but there’s nothing touching $500,000 and certainly not a million.

You won’t have to wait long for big events, though, as the Breeders’ Cup is scheduled for November 5 and November 6 at Del Mar. Yes, Bob Baffert has the greenlight to race in California, go figure. For our California picks at Santa Anita on Saturday, check out our Santa Anita Park page. Charles Town has eight races for $197,500 in prize money. Head below for our free Charles Town picks for October 23, 2021.

Post Time: 7:00 p.m. EST
Distance:4 ½ Furlongs
Purse:$12,100

The first race at Charles Town is Race 1 for a $12,100 purse. Fight Like Cersei and Sondeoff should be top contenders in this one.

Sondeoff has finished 4th, 8th, 5th, 4th, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th in eight races. She has finished 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th in her previous four attempts.

She placed 2nd behind Sister Joann by ¾ lengths for a $12,100 prize on August 28. In her most recent attempt, Sondeoff finished 4th for a $12,100 purse on October 2.

Fight Like Cersei is winless in ten attempts, going 7th, 2nd, 2nd in her previous three events. She placed 2nd in back-to-back assignments on September 11 in a $12,100 race by 3 lengths, and then 1 ¾ lengths behind on October 2.

If Flight Like Cersei wants to go on Saturday night, then a winning result is probably in the cards against this beatable field.

(7) Uncanny
+800 (8/1)

Post Time: 8:32 p.m. EST
Distance:4 ½ Furlongs
Purse:$30,800

Race 4 is a $30,800 event covering 4 ½ furlongs on the dirt. Look for Bella Gianna and Got Your Number to ride up hard in the stretch.

Bella Gianna is 3 for 33 in her career, and has finished 5th, 2nd, 3rd in her previous three attempts. The mare placed 2nd behind Fightress by a half length for a $16,000 purse.

She showed 3rd for a $30,800 purse on September 30 in her most recent outing. That was a good attempt from Bella Gianna, but more is going to be required to outperform Got Your Number in this spot.

Got Your Number is 3 for 12 in her career, and has finished 2nd, 6th, 1st, 4th in her career. The filly defeated Katalima by 6 ¾ lengths in a comfortable win on September 29.

She finished 4th for a $30,800 prize in her most recent outing on October 14. That was disappointing, but I think she can bounce back better on Saturday.

The Bet
(6) GOT YOUR NUMBER

(2) Coach Rube
SCRATCH
(3) Grace Elizabeth

(7) Boundtobebad
+350 (7/2)

Post Time: 10:02 p.m. EST
Distance:7 Furlongs
Purse:$35,200

Race 7 is a $35,200 event covering 7 furlongs. Grace Elizabeth has finished 8 for 23 in her career, and is 4th, 4th, 4th, 4th, 1st, 5th.

The mare beat She Figures by 3 lengths for a $35,200 purse on September 2. After that performance, Grace Elizabeth finished 5th in the $175,000 West Virginia Cavada Breeders’ Classic Stakes.

Bridging The Gap is 9 for 19, and has finished in the top-3 in ten straight events. That’s some incredible form from Bridging The Gap.

She has finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd in her previous four attempts. In her last win, Bridging The Gap beat Campy Cash by 3 ¾ lengths for a $30,000 purse.

She showed 3rd in the same West Virginia Cavada Breeders’ Classic noted above where Grace Elizabeth finished 5th. I like Bridging The Gap from the inside rail.
