Charles Town Selections for October 29, 2021 – Horse Racing Picks

Charles Town Selections for October 29, 2021 – Horse Racing Picks

There is racing in the afternoon and evening on Friday. The afternoon has some big races going, notably at Keeneland, Belmont Park, and Santa Anita Park.

Industry Leading 9% Cashback!

You aren’t going to find any worthwhile graded stakes racing. Keeneland has a couple of $150,000 stakes races. Other than that it’s a pretty quiet day on that front.

We’re going to open the card at Santa Anita with a few selections. The biggest race in the US is happening in California next weekend, but not at Santa Anita.

Del Mar is hosting the Breeders’ Cup, which has several events for more than a million and the $6,000,000 Breeders’ Cup Classic.

For Santa Anita, click on our Santa Anita Park page for more horse racing selections. We’re also playing a card under the lights in West Virginia at Charles Town. Head below for our free Charles Town picks for October 29, 2021.

Post Time: 9:02 p.m. EST
Distance:6 ½ Furlongs

Race 5 covers 6 ½ furlongs on the dirt for a $20,900 purse. Secret Castle and Alpine Moon should be the ones to watch in this event.

Secret Castle is 6 for 24 in her career, and has finished 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 1st, 6th in her career. She was a winner on August 19 for a $22,000 purse by 3 ¼ lengths.

Secret Castle failed to follow up and settled for 6th on October 15 for a $22,000 purse in the same class. That was a disappointing drop in form.

Alpine Moon is 10 for 36 in her career, and has finished 3rd, 1st, 5th, 4th, 2nd in her previous five attempts. Not a bad go for her in her last assignment.

Alpine Moon placed 2nd behind Slingin Sammy B by 1 ½ lengths for a $22,000 purse. This was after a class drop, and she’s going down again on Friday. This $20,000 event should be just right for her.

Post Time: 10:02 p.m. EST
Distance:7 Furlongs

Race 7 is a $30,800 event covering 7 furlongs on the dirt. Love to Zoom and Cedars Bulls Eye should have the upper hand in this event.

Love to Zoom has finished 7th, 1st, 3rd in three attempts. In her first win, she beat Eye of the Needle by 2 ¾ lengths in a $29,700 race on September 17.

She didn’t follow up in her next and most recent event, she showed 3rd on October 8 for a $30,800 purse. Love to Zoom should be close at the wire in this one.

Cedars Bulls Eye is a one-time winner in 10 attempts, with a winning run on March 20 in a $27,000 assignment over Tizbit by a head. Since then, she’s been knocking hard but just getting denied.

She’s gone 2nd in three straight attempts going into Friday. She placed 2nd behind Arrowwood by 1 length on October 8 for a $30,800 prize. Her persistence work should pay off on Friday night.

The Bet

(7) Brandyurafinegirl
+400 (4/1)
(8) Planetary
+1000 (10/1)

Post Time: 10:32 p.m. EST
Distance:6 ½ Furlongs

Race 8 covers 6 ½ furlongs on the dirt for a $29,700 purse. Out of Romance and Miss Bee Hiving are on my shortlist for this event.

Miss Bee Hiving could have a chance, at least a better chance than the morning-line indicates. She has finished in the top-3 in five of seven attempts.

To begin her career, Miss Bee Having was 3rd in five straight attempts. In her last two races, she finished 4th in back-to-back $29,7000 races.

Out of Romance is winless in five races, but showed up nice in her latest race. She was racing well up in class at Woodbine before a transfer to Charles Town where she immediately looked better.

Out of Romance placed 2nd behind Kinky Frolic by 2 ¼ lengths in a $29,700 event. She looks like the best of this field. Out of Romance will have to work for it, but should have the advantage in the stretch.
