Churchill Downs Pick 3 Selections for May 30, 2020 – Horse Racing Picks

A full day of racing on Saturday, with several race tracks open across the US. Laurel Park is the one newcomer that is opening today for racing. Of course, fans will not be allowed to enter the track and place bets or watch, but off-track wagering is available at Laurel. We will get to Laurel Park in the future. For today we’re going to take a look at the racecards at Churchill Downs and Santa Anita Park. Churchills Downs has a couple of stakes races with the Old Forester Mint Julep and Winning Colors in Race 7 and Race 11. However, I’m not feeling it with those two races, so going to stick to earlier in the card with the Pick 3 from Race 1-3. Head below for our free Churchill Downs Pick 3 selections for May 30, 2020.

Post Time: 1:00 p.m. EST
Distance: 6 Furlongs

A 6-furlong race will get the day started at Churchill Downs on Saturday. The purse will be worth a tidy sum of $40,000. Our Secret Agent and Brittle and Yoo should both be involved in the stretch. Between the two +350 horses, I’d lean towards Trapped N My Mind over Extra Effort. Trapped N My Mind has been running reasonably well to show in two straight outings on April 10 and April 26. She has finished in the top-3 in 6 of 9 races in her career. However, she is still looking for her first win today. There’s a chance of it happening.

Brittle and Yoo is going into the second race of her career on Saturday. She had a decent run to show on May 2 and beat eight horses. Take Charge Glenda and Scolding finished ahead of Brittle and Yoo, but it was a promising run by Brittle and Yoo in her debut effort. Scolding won by 6 lengths, so it was a great effort. Brittle and Yoo looked pretty good in two workouts this month, finishing 4-furlong workouts at 48.80 seconds and 49.20 seconds.

Our Secret Agent had a similar debut on June 13, 2019 to show at Churchill Downs. That was a fairly tough race, but Our Secret Agent held in there well. She followed that up on March 7 after a lengthy layoff to place at Adqueduct. That was an even stronger run against tougher competition for Our Secret Agent. Our Secret Agent beat eight horses and fell to Pure Wow by 2 ¾ lengths. Improved form from that race would result in an easy win in this spot. Similar form would likely do the trick, too.

Post Time: 1:30 p.m. EST
Distance:1 1/16 Miles

Race 2 has a $31,000 purse on offer to the horse that can run the fastest time at 1 1/16 miles. Mongolian Humor, Seeds of Time, and Lady Clopatra all have cases in Race 2. Mongolian Humor has some stakes experience, and has won 4 of 23 races in her career. Her most recent win was on August 25, 2019. She has gone eight straight races without finding the winner’s circle.

Mongolian Humor was severely outmatched in two stakes races in the Zenyatta Stakes (Gr. 2) and Bayakoa Stakes (Gr. 3) on September 29, 2019 and December 8, 2019. She finished 5th in both events. That quickly put an end to her stakes racing. Mongolian Humor finished 2nd in 2 of 5 races since that performance in the Bayakoa Stakes.

In her most recent outing, Mongolian Humor bowed out early after losing distance with the field. She didn’t finish the race, while others made it look much easier. Seeds of Time did finish the race, but it was clear that both horses didn’t belong in that class. Lady Cleopatra isn’t dropping classes like Seeds of Time. Instead, she will remain at a level she feels pretty comfortable at.

Lady Cleopatra has 10 wins in 39 races in her career. She has finished 6th, 9th, 2nd, 1st, 4th in her previous four races. Consistency has been her main problem. In her win on April 5, Lady Cleopatra won by ¾ lengths over She Might Tell. Lady Cleopatra couldn’t keep in her most recent outing and finished 4th on May 16. She remains in a class that she should have another decent run against.

Seeds of Time drops class big time and will go back down to where she’s had success in the past. Like I just mentioned, Seeds of Time was 9th to finish ahead of Mongolian Humor and another horse. Prior to trying a more difficult race, Seeds of Time finished 2nd, 3rd, 2nd, 1st, 1st, 2nd. She won on December 14, 2019 and January 4, and then lost by ¾ lengths against Shes Fastest.

Seeds of Time had a late bid, but just starting going just a bit too late. Some more room and Seeds of Time wins that event. That race wasn’t as tough as her assignment today and she just about run. Seeds of Time is a winner in 5 of 19 races, and similar form would lead to 6 wins in 20 races today at Churchill Downs.

A daily sizable purse of $79,000 is on offer at Churchill Downs on Saturday in Race 3. A big field of 16 horses will take to the gate for the top prize. It should be a wide-open event, but the best value seems to be with one horse. Flying the Colors, Daddymademedoit, and Elle M’a Souri are on my shortlist.

Elle M’a Souri is the betting favorite on the morning-line with a price of +250 to lead the field. She has been getting close to her goal, but coming just short. Elle M’a Souri has placed in 3 of 6 races and showed in one more. Top-3 in 4 of 6 career races isn’t a bad start for Elle M’a Souri. In her latest two outings, she didn’t finish on January 19 after packing it in at the ½ pole.

Daddymademedoit has been a bit all over the place in her ten-race career. She is coming off two performances where she finished 3rd and 2nd. This was after going 11th, 3rd, 2nd, 4th, 6th leading up to that race. This race is similar to the last two events she participated in and she was near the front. If everything goes accordingly for Daddymademedoit, she should be close for a win in this one. She likely comes a bit short again, though.

For the value, Flying the Colors is a solid option. She doesn’t have much experience, but could surprise the field in this one. In three races, Flying the Colors has already placed twice and looked great after a long layoff. Flying the Colors participated in two events in 2018, finishing 2nd and 9th. She came back to the track for a race on March 27 at Tampa Bay Downs and looked better. Flying the Colors placed 2nd behind Parish Poet by a half length. She is likely going to be a contender in this one.
