Churchill Downs Selections for November 18, 2020 – Horse Racing Picks

The horse racing action continues on Wednesday across the US with seven tracks being offered at BetOnline for wagering. It’s refreshing to see some new names on the docket after smaller cards on Monday and Tuesday. Churchill Downs is the most notable racetrack operating on Wednesday.

One of the most famous tracks in horse racing, Churchill Downs, is home to the next Grade 1 event in the country. The running of the $500,000 Clark Handicap will take place on November 27 in Louisville. There isn’t much stakes racing that follows the Breeders’ Cup Classic. It won’t be long for the richest race in the world, though, as the $20,000,000 Saudi Cup is expected to run in February.

It will unfortunately not included Authentic, who is coming off wins in the Kentucky Derby and Breeders’ Cup Classic in 2020. Bob Baffert’s name has been involved in doping schemes frequently, so exactly not what Saudi Cup organizers would have wanted again is a drug controversy. Maybe it’s for the better than Authentic retires, but it would have made for a nice trifecta. Last year was a major mess with Maximum Security and his trainer, Jason Servis.

We’ll get started on Wednesday at the biggest racetrack operating on Wednesday. Churchill Downs has nine races for wagering with a total of $387,500 available in prize money. We’ll handicap a couple of races and look for two winners. Be sure to keep an eye on our horse racing picks page for more selections today. Distance:1 1/16 Miles

Race 1 runs 1 1/16 miles on the dirt for a $25,000 purse on Wednesday afternoon. Overzealous and Frost Or Frippery are going to be hot contenders for the top prize in the event. Overzealous is 11 for 31 in his career and in good form recently. He is coming off a win on October 29 at Churchill Downs in a $25,000 event by 4 lengths over Landofthepharaohs. Overzealous was clear of the field easily and was geared down near the wire. In his previous six outings, Overzealous has gone 1st, 2nd, 1st, 7th, 3rd, 1st. Look for Overzealous to have a chance at the winner’s circle.

Frost Or Frippery has been on a massive run recently and looks to build on it Wednesday. He has finished in the top-2 in 15 races dating back to a win on September 19, 2019 at Churchill Downs. That’s some kind of epic streak for Frost Or Frippery, who found a class that she can be very successful in. Despite the success, her trainer has decided to keep her in a winnable class instead of going up the class scale. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be a winner, though I’m sure a $30,000 race would be in her future if she wins in dominant fashion again on Wednesday, which is very possible.

Frost Or Frippery is going into Wednesday following a win on October 22 at Indiana Grand. He won by 1 length over River Echo in a $20,000 event. Frost Or Frippery came up hard in the stretch to net his sixth win since May. Prior to that performance, Frost Or Frippery was blocked and boxed in and couldn’t get around the field. In any case, he still managed to place 2nd behind House Limit by 2 ¾ lengths in the $30,000 race. I’m on Frost Or Frippery who is in the form of his life right now.

Post Time: 3:36 p.m. EST
Distance:6 Furlongs

Race 6 is for a $28,500 purse on Wednesday afternoon at Churchill Downs. This event will include 6 furlongs of racing on the main track. Eleven runners are expected to participate. Happygobucky and Credit Enhancement are likely to be involved in the stretch run in Race 6. Happygobucky gets the inside rail out of the gate from the No. 1 post position.

She showed nice improvement after finishing 9th in her debut outing on August 21. Happygobucky finished 9th in that $46,200 event, and then came back to get into the money at Keeneland on October 10. It was thanks to improved form, but most importantly, a drop in class really helped Happygobucky.

She showed 3rd in a $20,000 race to finish 4 lengths behind the winner. Staying under the $30,000 mark, Happygobucky should be expected to present a bold bid on Wednesday. Credit Enhancement will likely provide the most resistance today. Credit Enhancement is in a similar spot as Happygolucky. He finished 8 as a first-time runner on August 7 at Saratoga in a $72,000 event.

Credit Enhancement responded to place 2nd behind Golden Account by 2 ½ lengths in a $25,000 assignment. You have to like what we’ve been seeing from the $180,000 Credit Enhancement in workouts in November. She was clocked at 49.40 and 49.20 seconds at 4 furlongs. Based in her current form, Credit Enhancement looks like the play.
