Monday is a slow day for racing with four racecourses offering cards at BetOnline. That is typically the case on Mondays and Tuesdays where some of the smaller tracks have an opportunity to show what they have without the bigger facilities stealing the spotlight. For Monday, we have Delta Downs, Parx, Remington Park, and Mountaineer Park at night. Remington Park moved some racing up earlier in the week so they don’t have to compete with as many tracks. It’s apparently worked out well for them because their handle has been up nicely. We will begin Monday at Delta Downs in Louisiana.
Delta Downs is hosting nine races on Monday with a total of $176,000 in prize money available. Zia Park has one small $50,000 stakes race today, but that’s all in the way of stakes events. Remington Park is home of the next notable stakes day, as they’ll put on six events on Friday. The running of the $200,000 Remington Springboard Mile is one of its marquee races of the year. For now, hopefully we can come out of Monday with some winners in Louisiana at Delta Downs. Head below for our free Delta Downs picks for December 14, 2020.
Post Time: 12:55 p.m. CST
Race 1 will be our starting point at Delta Downs on Monday afternoon. This is a ten-horse field for a $13,000 purse on the main track. Snowblind and Wicked Fitz are projected to provide a strong run in Race 1 on Monday. Wicked Fitz will have to fight from the outside, but should have a good showing on these terms today. He has been unable to perform at a high level in his career yet, but faces an easier chore today.
Wicked Fitz has finished 4th, 6th, 7th in the first three events of his career. In his most recent showing, Wicked Fitz was 7th in a $19,500 event. After competing in that class for three races, Wicked Fitz drops to a $13,000 race on Monday. Getting into the money should be much more of an attainable goal for Wicked Fitz here. He will likely have to deal with Snowblind in the stretch. This is another horse seeing a simpler outing on Monday.
Snowblind has finished 8th, 9th, 5th in the first three events of his career. He showed improvement in his most recent outing, as Snowblind finished 5th in a $23,000 event. Despite the higher class, Snowblind wasn’t a huge underdog in that race. Note that Snowblind was purchased for $100,000 in April and expected to breeze in a class like this. He will likely have to fight for the win, but should emerge victorious.

Distance:6 ½ Furlongs
Race 4 is our next selection at Delta Downs on Monday. This event runs for 6 ½ furlongs and a $12,000 purse. Able Catch and Majestic Edge should be tough customers in Race 4. Able Catch is 1 for 7 in her career, with a win on July 9 at Evangeline. That was a 1 ¾ length win for Albe catch over Streettakinhottie for a $13,000 purse. Since then, Able Catch has finished 6th, 4th, 3rd. In his most recent showing, Able Catch was 3rd for a $12,000 purse.
She remains in the same class on Monday and should be close at the wire. Her most likely challenger for a win is going to be Majestic Edge from the No. 2 post position. Majestic Edge is 1 for 9 in her career and hasn’t been in the winner’s circle since August 19 in a $32,578 assignment. He participated in some stakes events following that effort, but didn’t go very far.
Majestic Edge finished 4th in her most recent performance on November 1 at Churchill Downs. She will move down in class to a $12,000 event after finishing $20,000 over a month ago. This is the lowest class that Majestic Edge has participated in before. It should help her get into the winner’s circle on Monday afternoon.
Post Time: 3:11 p.m. CST
Race 6 is our final look at Delta Downs for the day on Monday. Prizeless and Tough Charlie are likely going to run strong races in this $19,000 assignment, which covers 5 furlongs on the dirt. Prizeless is 3 for 9 in his career, with his most recent winning run on December 6 at Delta Downs. That was a 1 ½ length win for Prizeless in a $42,000 event. Since then, though, Prizeless hasn’t been back to the winner’s circle, having finished 5th, 3rd, 7th. In his most recent performance, he was 7th in a $49,000 race.
Prizeless slides way down in class and has to be considered for a win in a $19,000 assignment. Tough Charlie is 1st, 1st, 3rd, 3rd, 5th in his previous five performances. He was a back-to-back winner in a $18,000 and $19,000 event, most recently a 3 ½ length win over Secret Biscuit on June 22. Tough Charlie returned to go 3rd, 3rd, 5th. In his most recent effort, Tough Charlie finished 5th in a $15,840 race. That wasn’t very encouraging at all, as Tough Charlie faltered in the 5-furlong outing. I will take my chances on the 4/1 horse in Prizeless to score the top prize in Race 6. This is going to be a much easier experience than he has seen recently.
