BetOnline has a small slate with five racecourses for thoroughbred available in North America on Monday. That’s the norm for the week in the fall and winter.
You aren’t going to find a huge slate in the winter, but enough to have some fun with. There is one track in Canada at Fort Erie with racing this afternoon, and then four in the US.
On the US circuit, you have Finger Lakes, Parx, Mountaineer Park, and Indiana Downs for options. That doesn’t sound like much, but soon the Breeders’ Cup is going to be here, so that’s something to look forward to.
Our first stop on Monday is at Finger Lakes Racetrack in Farmington, NY. Finger Lakes has ten races worth $275,500 this afternoon. Head below for our free Finger Lakes Racetrack picks for October 25, 2021.
Race 2
Post Time: 1:39 p.m. EST
Distance:1 Mile 70 Yards
Purse:$12,600
Race 2 is a $12,600 event covering a mile and 70 yards on the dirt. Look for Long Story Short and I’m Not Joking to play a big role in the stretch run.
Long Story Short is 3 for 26 in her career, and has finished 1st, 1st, 6th, 5th, 4th in her previous five attempts. Her last time going in was on May 30 at Mountaineer Park.
Long Story Short beat My Pink Baby Bird by 1 length for a $11,400 purse. Following that outing, she finished 6th, 5th, 4th in her previous three attempts.
In her latest outing, Long Story Short finished 4th in a $24,000 event on October 11. The idea is that the drop down in class should help out.
I’m Not Joking is a veteran with 59 races of experience. She finished 4th, 2nd, 6th in her previous three attempts.
I’m Not Joking placed 2nd behind Mizzen Air by 2 lengths for a $29,050 purse on August 7. In her latest attempt, she finished 6th for a $19,400 prize. I didn’t care for that effort. Give me the value with Long Story Short.
Race 4
Post Time: 2:37 p.m. EST
Distance:6 Furlongs
Purse:$17,200
The fourth race at Finger Lakes covers 6 furlongs on the dirt for a $17,200 purse. I’d pay attention to No More Miracles and Sixteen Tons in this one.
No More Miracles is a one-time winner through 34 attempts. He won way back in 2019 at Aqueduct, so it’s been a long minute since finding a win.
No More Miracles has finished 2nd, 5th, 2nd in his previous three outings, so not too bad and could do better on Monday. He placed 2nd behind Straight Eight by a half length on October 6 for a $17,200 purse.
Sixteen Tons should be the toughest of this field. He’s a one-time winner through 10 attempts, with a winning run on September 20 in a $16,000 assignment.
That was too easy for Sixteen Tons, as he pulled away for a 5 length win. He took over at the ¼ pole and didn’t give the lead up. Sixteen Tons looks like the winner.
Race 9
Post Time: 5:02 p.m. EST
Distance:1 Mile 70 Yards
Purse:$25,800
Race 9 is a $25,800 event covering a mile and 70 yards on the dirt. Iova and Pioneer Of The Sky are likely where you should be looking in this race.
Iova has a win in nine attempts on January 9. That was her first run as a rookie, so she’s gone winless in eight straight races.
In her previous three attempts, the filly has finished 4th, 4th, 2nd. She placed 2nd behind Just Stay Home by 4 ½ lengths in a $17,200 assignment on September 29.
Pioneer Of The Sky is likely going to be the toughest horse in this assignment. She has finished 3rd, 11th, 1st in her career, with a winning run in her most recent attempts.
Pioneer Of The Sky beat Azogar by 8 ¼ lengths for a $32,100 prize on October 5. That was much too easy. This one should be right up her alley as well. Look for the No. 2 filly to score.
