Golden Gate Fields Selections for February 15, 2021 – Horse Racing Picks

Golden Gate Fields Selections for February 15, 2021 – Horse Racing Picks

We have a special Presidents’ Day Monday card which means more horse racing action available in the US. There are tracks from the west to the east operating today, as they hope to grab a chunk of the handle from the betting public. The small tracks like Parx and Turf Paradise aren’t going to appreciate the company, which is typically their day, but more people should be paying attention to horse racing on a holiday at least.

BetOnline has seven race tracks scheduled for wagering on Monday. A couple of small stakes races with the running of the $100,000 Hollie Hughes Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack and $75,000 Wishing Well Stakes at Santa Anita Park are on the docket. It was a profitable day on Sunday afternoon in Florida. Three horses and three winners at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, and three horses and two winners at Tampa Bay Downs.

Distance:5 ½ Furlongs
Purse:$11,500

Race 1 is a $11,500 event across 5 ½ furlongs on the synthetic track at Golden Gate. We will get started with this event, highlighting Bold Roman and Fire When Ready as potential winners here. Bold Roman is 5 for 13 in his career and in nice form recently. He has finished 1st, 7th, 1st, in his previous three outings for a couple of wins in three entries. In the first of those wins, Bold Roman beat Punalulu by ¾ lengths in a $11,000 assignment.

Bold Roman was unable to follow through and struggled in his next event to finish 7th in a $12,500 outing. However, Bold Roman was able to respond in his latest effort for a win over Continental Union by a half length in a $10,000 race. Back up in class slightly, this is going to be tougher for Bold Roman, but expect him to be close in the fray in the stretch. Fire When Ready should provide Bold Roman with a tough challenge.

Fire When Ready is 4 for 22 in his career, with a solid performance recently at Los Alamitos to get back on track. This horse is a regular at Del Mar and Santa Anita Park, but recently searched out an easier race and helped up better. Fire When Ready placed 2nd behind D K’s Crown by 2 ½ lengths in a $15,000 event. That was a nice effort following a class drop. He continues to drop in class and should be able to handle a $11,500 assignment on Monday.

Post Time: 2:58 p.m. PST
Distance:1 1/16 Miles
Purse:$30,000

Race 5 is the feature race at Golden Gate Fields, a 1 1/16 mile event worth $30,000. Six horses are expected to participate, with Me B Bubba T and A Real Hero likely going to be solid performers. Me B Bubba T showed great improvement from his debut and next performance.

He was out of the picture as a rookie, finishing 11th in a $61,000 event, and then placed 2nd in his most recent outing. Me B Bubba T couldn’t compete at Santa Anita Park, but found easier company at Golden Gate Fields. Me B Bubba T placed 2nd behind It’s My House by ¾ lengths in a $30,000 event.

It wasn’t so much improved form, but the class drop helped out nicely. He stays in a $30,000 race and should run well in this race as well. Expect Me B Bubba T to face resistance from A Real Hero in Race 5. A Real Hero has finished 4th and 2nd in her career, with some nice improvement as well recently.

She placed 2nd behind Moraz in a $61,000 outing in her most recent showing. A Real Hero will receive an easier chore on Monday compared to what she saw in her first two entries. That doesn’t mean A Real Hero will be able to show up and win, she’ll need to want to run, but should have the best chance of scoring.

Our Bet
(5) A REAL HERO

Race 6

(1) Runnin Diva
+600 (6/1)
(2) Simply Perfect
+300 (3/1)
(3) Starza
+500 (5/1)
(4) Family Trips
+600 (6/1)
(5) Mergie Troid
+3000 (30/1)
(6) Galwalksintoabar
+100 (1/1)

Post Time: 3:31 p.m. PST
Distance:5 ½ Furlongs
Purse:$12,500

We will wrap up the day at Golden Gate Fields with a 5 ½ furlong event for a $12,500 purse. Runnin Diva and Galwalksintoabar should give a good effort in this assignment. Runnin Diva is a winner in one of her nine races back three outings ago on September 5. In her last three performances, Runnin Diva went 1st, 4th, 6th.

She beat Heat Seeking Leta by 1 ¼ lengths in a $11,000 event. Runnin Diva was not one of the favorites to win that race, so it was a welcome performance for her connections. Since then, Runnin Diva has followed up to finish 4th and 6th. In her most recent outing, she finished 6th in a $18,000 event.

Runnin Diva is back down in class and should get closer in this race. Expect her to do better, with Galwalksintoabar providing resistance in the stretch. Galwalksintoabar is 3 for 13 in her career and in good form as of late. She has finished in the top-3 in 7 of her previous 8 entries.

Galwalksintoabar found the winner’s circle on December 10 with a win by a nose over Girona for a $15,000 purse. Galwalksintoabar came back on January 29 to show 3rd in a $13,000 event. That could have been better, but she is down slightly in class against easier competition on Monday. Look for her to pull away late in the stretch for a win.
