BetOnline has a full slate of racing on Sunday with ten racecourses available for wagering. This is a quieter day than yesterday. There were some big stakes races on Saturday, notably the $300,000 Fountain of Youth Stakes (Gr. 2) at Gulfstream Park and $750,000 Southwest Stakes (Gr. 3) at Oaklawn Park. Two horses and two winners for us, as we celebrate a couple of wins. Overall, we had six horses running and five crossed the wire in the lead. Not a bad day at all. While the stakes are a lot smaller on Sunday, hopefully we can find more winning runners this afternoon.
We have Laurel Park in Maryland covered on the east coast, and we’ll feature a west coast track for later in the day. Golden Gate Fields has nine races scheduled on the card, with all nine on the synthetic track in Berkeley. Head below for our free Golden Gate Fields picks for February 28, 2021.

A mile of racing on the all-weather-track will get us started at Golden Gate Fields on Sunday afternoon. This is likely a race between Hypersonic and One Eyed Robin in the stretch run. Hypersonic has produced some decent results as of late, with finishes of 1st, 6th, 3rd, 3rd in his previous four outings. He was a winner on March 2 in a $12,000 assignment over My Golden Boy by a half length.
Following that showing, Hypersonic went 6th, 3rd, 3rd. In his most recent race, he showed 3rd in a $10,400 event on February 11. I’d have to say it has been a disappointing stretch for Hypersonic after winning in March. However, he might be able to show up well on these terms Sunday. One Eyed Robin is a two-time winner in 12 performances in his career, and should be a worthy challenger for Hypersonic
He’s been a consistent runner, going 1st, 2nd, 4th, 2nd, 3rd in his previous five trips. One Eyed Robin is coming off a serviceable performance on November 5 in a $11,500 event. He showed 4 lengths behind the winner, having to settle for 3rd money. More was expected in that race, so a drop in class to $10,000 should help nicely. I will side with the horse on the inside rail from the No. 1 post position over Hypersonic.

Distance:5 ½ Furlongs
In the fifth race of the day at Golden Gate Fields, seven horses are expected to travel 5 ½ furlongs for a $10,400 purse. Collusion Delusion and Wise River Ray should run well in this race, and likely going to be running strong in the stretch. Collusion Delusion is 1 for 9 in his career, finishing 1st, 4th, 10th, 3rd in his last four performances.
He beat Matson by a neck in a $10,500 event on May 22, and has gone 4th, 10th, 3rd since that win. In Collusion Delusion’s most recent effort, he showed 3rd in a $10,400 race on February 11. Collusion Delusion has a quick turnaround here, and is likely to figure somewhere around the front again. Expect Collusion Delusion to at least show or place in Race 5. Wise River Ray should prove to be a tough opponent from the outside.
Wise River Ray has finished 7th, 8th, 1st, 3rd, 2nd in his career. Improvements have been noted after a couple of rough performances at Turf Paradise. Before transferring, Wise River Ray won at Turf Paradise on March 4 in a simple $6,600 race. That was too easy, with Wise River Ray drawing off in the stretch for a 2 ¾ length win.
The class jump hasn’t impacted Wise River Ray much. Note that he placed 2nd behind Year of the Ox by a length in his last outing on February 11 in a $10,400 event. It was a good effort, but just a bit too slow. Against this field on Sunday, this presents a nice opportunity for Wise River Ray to do one better. I’m backing the No. 7 in Race 5.

Distance:5 ½ Furlongs
Race 7 features nine horses contending for a $30,000 purse, which is the second biggest price of the day at Golden Gate Fields. Shezarunaway and This Is the One are likely going to have good runs in this event. Shezarunaway finished 4th as a first-time runner on February 7.
It was a decent debut for Shezarunaway in the $30,000 event. She is open to improvement, and will likely continue to get better in her career. Shezarunaway was Shezarunaway will need to make progress for a win on Sunday, but it’s certainly a reasonable goal in this race.
I’ve been impressed with her morning workouts, and suggest that she’s fully capable of getting things done at this level. Shezarunaway with timed at 47.80, 48, and 49.80 seconds in three recent 4-furlong workouts.
This Is the One showed improvement after finishing 4th as a rookie on May 24, 2019. She went on a long layoff following that performance, and only recently returned on February 7 and showed that she has it still. This Is the One placed 2nd behind My Legal Bet by 1 ¼ lengths in a $30,000 event. A repeat performance in this race would likely be enough for a win.
