Gulfstream Park is one of two racecourses in action on Christmas Eve. They both happen to be in Florida at Gulfstream and Tampa Bay Downs. Florida doesn’t stop for anything. That said, there will be no racing on Christmas, but Gulfstream Park will return with a big card on December 26. There are three Grade 1 $300,000 events at Santa Anita Park on Saturday, so that’s where most attention will be diverted. The Malibu Stakes is the most notable event on the schedule the day after Christmas.
Gulfstream Park is putting on a $306,000 racecard across ten races on Christmas Eve. We will look to have a very Merry Christmas today with a Rainbow Pick 6 win on Thursday. You can do whatever you want with these picks, though. Play the Pick 3, Pick 4, or Pick 5 as well. Of course, single bets are always an option, too. Head below for our free Gulfstream Park Rainbow Pick 6 and Pick 5 selections for December 24, 2020.

Distance:1 1/16 Miles
The first leg of our Rainbow Pick 6 will begin with Race 5 at Gulfstream Park. Race 5 is a 1 1/16 mile event for a $24,000 purse. This is a wide open race that is going to be there for the taking. I’m edging towards Memphis Showboat, with a lean on Trish the Dish. Memphis Showboat is likely going to be near the front and will catch a good price at post time. She is 1 for 9 in her career, with a win on February 26 in a $39,000 event over Unicorn Sally by 2 ¼ lengths.
Since then, Memphis Showboat has struggled up in class, but after finishing 10th in a $49,890 event on October 31, Memphis Showboat slid down to a $24,000 race and finished 4th. It was a fine performance, and she was only around 4 lengths off the lead. No one in this race has really solid recent results to speak of, so this shouldn’t be an overly difficult event for Memphis Showboat. I will take my chances on the No. 8 horse at what should be a nice priced horse.

Race 6 covers 6 furlongs on the dirt for a $29,000 purse. Eleven horses are scheduled to participate in the event. Infatuating has been in consistent form recently and could strike on Christmas Eve. She has shown 3rd in the first three races of her career. Infatuating finished 3rd in all three races at Parx, and will receive a transfer to Gulfstream Park for Christmas Eve. In her most recent performance, Infatuating showed 3rd for a $40,000 purse on November 10.
That was a tough event, but Infatuating ran it evenly and was in good form. Prior to that effort, Infatuating showed 3rd in a similar race for $40,000, and the same could be said for her debut on October 6. In prep work for this performance, Infatuating looked good with a time of 48.15 seconds. Infatuating is dropping in class for this assignment from a $40,000 purse to $29,000 on Thursday. There’s a good chance that Infatuating moves up from 3rd to 1st here.
Post Time: 8:50 p.m. EST
Race 7 is a 6-furlong event for $20,200 on the turf. Ten horses are expected to run, with a tight contest between Jost Sayin and Jabuticaba likely unfolding. Jabuticaba should run well in this company versus easier competition. She recently ran in a $150,000 Grade 3 event on October 3. Her previous three entries were stakes races for $100,000, $150,000, and $95,000. Prior to that stretch, Jabuticaba was a winner in a $48,000 event. In fact, Jabuticaba won five of seven races before moving up to the stakes level. She is sliding way down in class for Christmas Eve. A $20,200 event shouldn’t pose too many problems. I will back Jabuticaba to score a win in Race 7.
Post Time: 3:05 p.m. EST
Race 8 is a 7-furlong event for a $22,000 prize on the main track. Blessed Journey is likely going to be a hot commodity in this race. He is 2 for 16 in his career and is in good form recently. Blessed Journey is coming off a win on November 16, including the top-2 in two of his previous three outings. He placed 2nd behind Avant Garde by 4 lengths for a $41,000 purse. In his most recent outing, Blessed Journey won in a $21,000 race after dropping in class. He isn’t going anywhere and remaining in the same class. Blessed Journey should be able to cash in at this level on Thursday.
Post Time: 3:36 p.m. EST
Race 9 is for a $40,000 purse covering 5 furlongs on the turf. This is a big field featuring 14 horses. At only 5 furlongs, it’s going to be a crowded track for such a short distance. I tend to look on the inside in races like this. Richies Great Girl from the No. 2 post position should have a good chance of getting a win. She is 4 for 9 in her career and fresh off a win on November 29.
Richies Great Girl beat Belle Brezing by a half length for a $23,000 purse. This is tougher, but we’ve seen Richies Great Girl run well in much tougher races before. Sunset Empire enters this event in good form, but I’m not too hot about backing her from the outside. She might have to fight through a lot of traffic here, and at 5 furlongs, there isn’t much room for error. I will side with Richies Great Girl for the win.

If we made it this far at Gulfstream Park, then that’s great news because we just need one more horse to complete the Rainbow 6 and Pick 5. I am looking at Awsum Roar to hopefully bring it home for us. Assum Roar has been a consistent horse throughout her 27-race career. She is a winner in 10 of 27 races, and is coming off a win in her latest performance on December 3. Awsum Roar beat Miss Miami by 1 ¼ lengths for a $28,000 purse. Miss Miami had more money on her, but Awsum Roar was certainly the better horse in that race.
She showed incredible kick in the stretch, and blew past the competition to go from 8th to 1st in the stretch. Awsum Roar hung around stalking, and then hit the jets at the perfect time, which was another 5-furlong event. This was a nice response by Awsum Roar after struggling up in class in the summer and spring.
Expect another good race between Miss Miami and Awsum Roar, with Awsum Roar likely carrying better value on Thursday. She has already shown, less than a month ago, that Awsum Roar can beat her and the others. Like I noted above in Race 9, I don’t typically like betting horses from the outside in 5-furlong races with over ten horses participating, but there isn’t much to like on the inside in Race 10.
