The biggest races on Friday can be found at Oaklawn Park. Oaklawn Park has the $150,000 Rainbow Stakes and Rainbow Miss Stakes up for grabs today in Arkansas.
You can also find a $1,000,000 stakes race at Oaklawn on Saturday. Not just one but two, with the Apple Blossom Handicap (Gr. 1) and Oaklawn Handicap (Gr. 2). This is the biggest day for racing before the Kentucky Derby on May 1. That’s going to be a big day for the first Kentucky Derby in May in two years.
We are handicapping the card at Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens and Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach in Florida. Gulfstream Park has nine races with a total of $368,000 in prize money available. Head below for our free Gulfstream Park picks for April 16, 2021.

Race 4 is a $38,000 event covering 5 furlongs on the turf. Imagery and Exact look like horses to watch in this event. Imagery carries some value on the morning-line at 6/1. Imagery has a win in two attempts in her career. She finished 4th as a rookie on November 13 for a $80,000 purse.
That was too tough, but Imagery was able to respond for a win on January 28. She beat Lime by 3 lengths in a $39,000 event after the class drop. The first outing was too tough, but that was far more manageable and she scored a spot in the winner’s circle. The $57,000 Imagery should be able to come close at the wire. Exact is the one runner that should put up a big fight, though.
Exact is 2 for 6 and searching for a hat-trick run Friday afternoon. She is coming off two wins on February 11 and March 19. Exact beat Bahamian Rhapsody by 4 ¾ lengths for a $23,000 purse, and then responded for a 4 ¾ length win in a $41,000 event. Both assignments appeared a bit too easy for Exact. The presence of Imagery might make her work more for a win here, but Exact should have the edge. Another big performance likely signals a jump in class for her next event.

Distance:1 1/16 Miles
Race 8 is a $48,000 event covering 1 1/16 miles on the turf. Honolulu Express and Kroy should have a competitive race and a chance at the top prize. Honolulu Express is 7 for 26 in his career with top-2 performances in four of his previous five attempts. He has gone 2nd, 2nd, 8th, 1st, 2nd, with a win on February 18 in a $44,000 event.
Honolulu Express defeated Please Sit Down by 1 length in that race. It was an impressive showing, and he looked fine placing 2nd behind Pro Quality by a neck for a $48,000 purse on March 14. You have to expect that Honolulu Express is going to be competitive.
Kroy is 8 for 28 in his career, finishing 2nd and 1st in the last two performances. He placed 2nd behind J P Hellish by a neck in a $44,000 event on February 18, and then came back to do one better on March 18. Kroy beat Dominate Thermonent by 2 lengths in a $48,000 event. That should be enough to get another win on Friday.

In Race 9 there are nine horses scheduled to race for a $47,000 purse on the turf. What a Trick and Mumbai have to be the horses to watch in this event. They both stand a decent chance of winning here. What a Trick is winless in three attempts, but has an opportunity to get home today.
He has been showing improvement, going 6th as a first-time runner to 3rd and 2nd in his next two races. What a Trick showed 3rd on February 20 in a $39,000 event. In her next outing, What a Trick did a spot better to place 2nd behind Bye Bye by 2 ¾ lengths in a $55,000 event. Another performance like that is going to put What a Trick close.
Mumbai holds a big chance to win this one. She has gone 5th, 8th, 2nd in her career at Gulfstream Park and Saratoga. After finishing 8th in a $72,000 event, Mumbai returned to Gulfstream to place 2nd behind Too Sexy by a neck in a $52,000 event. Another race like that will be good enough for a win against these opponents on Friday.
