Gulfstream Park Selections for March 24, 2021 – Horse Racing Picks

There is a decent size of action on the racetrack for a Wednesday. BetOnline has ten courses available for wagering, up from just four yesterday. The most notable tracks on the schedule include Gulfstream Park and Fair Grounds Race Course. No stakes racing on Wednesday, but we are closing in on a big race on Saturday. There are multiple big stakes races across the country, with the $750,000 Florida Derby (Gr. 1) the biggest of the bunch.

Along with a $750,000 purse, 100 points will go to the winner of the event. There are also a couple of $250,000 stakes races at Gulfstream Park on Wednesday, with the running of the Gulfstream Park Oaks (Gr. 2) and Pan American Stakes (Gr. 2). We will begin the day at Gulfstream Park on Wednesday afternoon in Hallandale Beach. Gulfstream Park has ten races on the agenda worth a total of $317,000 in prize money. Head below for our free Gulfstream Park picks for March 23, 2021.

Post Time: 1:10 p.m. EST
Distance:6 ½ Furlongs

In the first race at Gulfstream Park, eight horses are expected to participate in this event. The Reign Man and Gemo should have bold efforts in the stretch run in this one. The Reign Man is 2 for 12 in his career, and coming off a win on March 7. He beat Captured by Fate by 3 ½ lengths in a $19,000 assignment to get back in the winner’s circle for the first time since his debut on November 10, 2019 at Woodbine.

Prior to the win, The Reign Man had finished 5th, 3rd, 7th. He was 7th in a $17,000 race on January 22, and then found some nice form finally. We will find out on Wednesday if that was a fluke win or an actual representation of his improvement. It usually comes gradually and not all at once after a cold drought, so I’m skeptical to an extent.

Gemo has been in more consistent form recently, but hasn’t won since March 11. He has gone 3rd, 2nd, 2nd in his previous three performances, placing 2nd in his most recent outing. Gemo was 1 ½ lengths behind Fast Loaded for the win in that race for a $22,000 purse. He was also 2nd on January 10 in another $22,000 assignment. Looking to do a spot better, Gemo should get it down in class in a $19,000 race this afternoon.

(5) Gasparilla Blast

(6) Awesome Annmarie

(7) Fast Catalina
+350 (7/2)

Post Time: 3:41 p.m. EST
Distance:6 Furlongs

Race 6 runs for 6 furlongs on the dirt at Gulfstream on Wednesday in a $25,000 event. Gasparilla Blast and Gilded Lady should be watched closely in this race. Gasparilla Blast has tasted some success to open his career. He’s finished 5th, 1st, 1st, 4th in four-career outings.

In her most recent win, Gasparilla Blast beat a very solid Reiterate by 5 ½ lengths on October 17 in a $19,000 event. That was two races ago, and in her last outing, regressed to 4th after being denied a hat-trick. Gasparilla Blast was 4th in a $24,000 event, so didn’t have as much success up in class.

She will stay put and make an attempt for a $25,000 purse on Wednesday. Expect her to be close, with an opportunity to cash in. The competition doesn’t look overly difficult despite the higher class. Gilded Lady will look to do what Gasparilla Blast couldn’t and complete a hat-trick this afternoon.

Gilded Lady was a winner on January 17 in a $14,350 event over Bahamian Moon by a half length, and then followed up for a $24,000 win by 1 ¼ lengths after shaking free late. She showed there that she can compete and win in this class. Her effort in workouts suggests it wasn’t a fluky win. Look for Gilded Lady to follow up.

(5) Mr. Tip

(6) Tio Wil
+600 (6/1)
(7) Cairo Campaign
+350 (7/2)
(8) Burly Boy
+800 (8/1)

Post Time: 4:44 p.m. EST
Distance:7 ½ Furlongs

In our final selection at Gulfstream Park, there is some value to be had in Race 8. We have 7 ½ furlongs of racing for a $34,000 purse here. Mr. Tip and Cairo Campaign are held in high regard in this event.

Mr. Tip is 3 for 12 in his career, and coming off a win on February 24 in his most recent showing. He beat Churchills Victory by 3 lengths in a $27,000 event in a pretty impressive display. Mr. Tip has finished 1st, 6th, 8th, 1st in his previous four attempts.

Mr. Tip won by 2 ½ lengths in a $24,000 event, and then found it tough in a $51,000 and $31,000 event. After winning in a $24,000 race, Mr. Tip is back up in class to a $34,000 event. Certainly worth a look, but there could be better value on Cairo Campaign.

Cairo Campaign is a three-time winner, going 3 for 6 in his career, and top-3 in every entry. The $210,000 Cairo Campaign is coming off a win by a neck in a $30,000 event on March 4. He placed 2nd behind Dream Friend by 1 ¼ lengths on February 4 prior to that win. I think there’s more upside with what I anticipate a better price at post time on Cairo Campaign Wednesday afternoon.
